Penn State OL Nowicki visiting ASU on Monday

http://www.azcentral.com/members/Blog/DouglasHaller/167452

Penn State redshirt-freshman guard Ryan Nowicki is scheduled to visit Arizona State on Monday.

Nowicki, who stands 6-foot-5 and 280 pounds, redshirted last season for the Nittany Lions. In the wake of Penn State's sanctions, he has decided to pursue other options. According to terms of the sanctions, Penn State players can transfer to FBS schools without penalty, meaning they can suit up this season.

Nowicki, from Glendale, played at Cactus High and was a two-time, first-team Class 4A-II All-State selection. In 2011, recruiting service Rivals ranked him as the nation's No. 31 tackle.

Wouldn't it be great if we landed this local guy! I suppose he had his reasons for heading back east to play. Who knows, maybe he has had a change of heart.

Honestly, Nowicki probably should have gone to an in-state school to begin with, but he wanted to leave the state in a bad way. He's a guard in a tackle's body, but he has good mobility so I'm guessing he'd excel at left guard. Nasty streak. Just wanted to get out of here and had an infatuation with the Big 10 (I believe that's where his family's from). For a 3-star recruit with alleged flexibility issues, he turned his recruitment into a frenzy. Michigan and USC were fawning over him into January before deciding on Penn State.

I think he's probably a ++ guard prospect, so it would greatly benefit one of the two Arizona schools to get him. Opportunity is there for him to get a lot of reps as soon as he'd like. Not sure the other schools on his list are as desperate, but no one turns away talent.

Where else is he visiting?

Well you'd think blocking for Cameron Marshall as he breaks a bunch of ASU records this year would be a good selling point. Would definitely help get him noticed early on.

I'd seriously doubt he would start this year.

Has anyone seen any updates on how this visit went? It seems like he has to make a decision pretty soon here.
