Anything more than a stick of gum is a bonus!

That's tell us all, he's not in the Cards plans going forward & about to get axed.

If Mendenhall isn't healthy not so sure this is a good idea. Unless we plan on bringing in another back.

This is a BAD idea. I can't imagine we get more than a late rd pick. As much as I hate his inability to get on the field, especially considering mendenhalls injury, I'm intrigued by his potential.

I like Taylor and Ellington, but they both strike me as specialty backs. Taylor on short yardage and Ellington as the scat back. If mendenhalls can't go, I'd love to see williams get the load.

You mean keeping a RB whose injured more & less reliable than Beanie Wells? :mulli:

Really? He's in year 3 & had like 50 career carries because he's more brittle than a china doll.
Potential means squat when you can get on the field in the NFL.

To me it doesn't matter. Williams has only played in 4 of a possible 32 games. That tells me he not going to be there this season anyway. What they could do is put him on IR and give him one last chance next season to prove himself. Maybe that way his knee can fully recover.

So we won't get anything for him anyway. :mulli: If not bringing in another back may as well see if can contribute. Bring in another back and I am fine with it.

Word is they're asking for a 5th round pick. Might be optimistic. I think they'll take anything they can get, or cut him if nobody offers anything. At least there's not much of a cap hit nor money still owed at this point.

Yep, some peeps here are really over valuing his broken ass. We only gave up a 7th for CP.

Like I said, a stick of gum (we will take already chewed) is about all he's worth. ;)

From what I read Mendy is fine and will be back week 1. Nothing more than a knee sprain.

I don't see them shopping Ryan if they aren't confident Rashard is good to go. A lot of posts I've read from others think that Taylor was a huge value and could potentially be a starter. I think he has the ability to be an every down back.

If in fact they are going to release him come next weeks cuts, why not see if they can get something for him? I'm not sure if he is PS eligible, but he won't clear waivers regardless.

Mendenhall sprained knee expected to return by season opener. #azcardinals

I wouldn't be against keeping five RB's instead of 4 TE's as some have speculated. Mendenhall isn't all that durable any more. Sprained knee could be bothersome for awhile.

Williams showed some moves and burst last game, we have nothing to lose , except someone like Sperry or King at this point. I'd be more inclined to cut one of them, besides the rooks haven't proven that they'll be effective in a regular season game.

This would be a big mistake. Maybe they could practice squad a RB, but 9 spots out of 53 is an awful lot for two positions where there are only 2 or 3 players of those type on the field in most situations.

If the other four running backs come out of the Denver game healthy, I'd trade RW for a 6th rounder. But I wouldn't release him.

I have concerns about the durability of Rashard Mendenhall and Andre Ellington. [Not that Ryan Williams is a model of health.]

If we'd only get a 5-7th rounder for him, I'd rather keep him on the roster. He's worth more as a cheap lottery ticket than the next D.C. Jefferson.

Trading Williams only removes the spectre of another Steve Keim failure from the discussion.

Were they already planning on trying to get a 6th or 7th before the pep talk?

I'm saying that we should better keep 5 RB's and three TE's on the final 53. We should be able to PS Jefferson and wait for final cutdowns to grab another, cutting either, Dray or Sperry, mtl.

Dunno about 3 TEs. Jim Dray is the closest and most consistent thing we have right now to a fullback, and he gets solid push in the run game and is a solid special teams player. D.C. Jefferson won't clear waivers (Dallas had a 3rd round grade on him, IIRC). Jefferson, Dray, Housler, King, and someone to hold a spot until a vet comes across the waiver wire or Week 2.

I'm in favor of keeping 5 (good) RB's and didn't like the title of the thread one bit.

But then I realized the source was LaConfora

Whew!
