The New Orleans Saints front office and staff made their annual road trip to LSU for their team's pro day. The team has usually shown quite the support throughout the years and it doesn't seem to be changing much now.
Among those in attendance, general manager Mickey Loomis headlined the bunch alongside assistant general manager Khai Harley and pro personnel vice president Michael Parenton. The team also brought out newly hired run game coordinator T.J. Paganetti, who helped run drills for the offensive line, as well as the team's new sports science director Ted Rath. Assistant defensive line coach Brian Young and former tight end Josh Hill, who works in the team's pro scouting department also made their presence known in Baton Rouge, among others.
A couple of prospects to watch for the Saints are offensive tackle Will Campbell, who is a projected top-15 selection as well as tight end Mason Taylor who will almost certainly be a Day 2 selection. What makes these players interesting for New Orleans other than their physical abilities, is that it's very possible one if not both could be available for the team in where their selections are. At pick No. 9, there's a very good chance that Campbell could be in play for the Saints. Whether or not he plays the tackle or guard position, the team could use his services at either spot. He didn't do any drills but did have his arms measured after numbers were misreported from the NFL Scouting Combine, coming in at 33 inches.
As for Taylor, an argument can be made for the Saints using one of their selections to select him at pick No. 40 in the second round or No. 71 in the third. Although the team opted to bring Juwan Johnson back on a three-year deal, the team lacks the full-package player at the position with Foster Moreau still recovering from a late-season knee injury.
Many other prospects likely opened some eyes on Wednesday, giving us some more insight on what the Tigers program has to offer in this year's draft.
