FOX Sport's Jordan Schultz reported Cooper Kupp won't be on the market long. Kupp was recently released by the Los Angeles Rams, and there will be a market for the former All-Pro wide receiver in free agency. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported multiple teams will be interested and the New Orleans Saints were one of the teams he mentioned. The Athletic's Dianna Russini also named the Saints as one of the teams monitoring Kupp's market.
It was a relatively fleeting mention, but it's worth being noted seeing that both Rapoport and Russini mentioned the Saints. New Orleans needs a receiver and Kupp would match the style the Saints need next to Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed as a bigger, more physical playmaker who can work from the slot. Kupp isn't the same player he was when he won the Triple Crown in 2021 (leading the NFL with 145 receptions, 1,947 receiving yards, and 16 touchdowns), but he can still occupy the short to medium regions of the field and win contested catches. New Orleans needs a go-to third-and-short receiver and Kupp can be that.
Schultz added that Kupp "has interest from at least five teams, and the expectation is he'll decide sooner rather than later." The decision could be made so quickly that the receiver doesn't even take any free agent visits.
Kupp may decide he wants a more competitive destination, but the Saints should make a bid. He would have a carved out role, without the expectation of being the main target. Olave would be your top receiver and Shaheed and Kupp would have their own situations where they are the next option.
