The New Orleans Saints have had quite the mixed bag of an offseason so far, between newly acquired players, letting some of their own move on, and setting up visits for prospects, they have made things interesting. When it comes to official 30 visits, they have only had one reported previous to now which was East Carolina cornerback Shavon Revel Jr.
However, this list will grow to two, as James Crepea of The Oregonian reports that the Saints will be one of the teams hosting Oregon Ducks offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr. on one of 30 official pre-draft visits, commonly referred to as a "top 30" visit. Additionally, he notes that the Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles, and Washington Commanders will all also have him in for one of these visits as well. He's expected to be a top-50 draft pick.
The primary left tackle has been with Oregon for three seasons, playing in 41 total games, and in 2024 would accrue 929 total snaps at LT and five combined snaps between the two guard positions. The reason behind looking into him is he is an exceptional athlete with strong traits to build off of and a solid baseline of three years of quality tape. At the NFL Scouting Combine, he produced a 5.05-second 40-yard dash, 1.71-second 10-yard split, 34.5-inch vertical jump, and 8-foot-7 broad jump. That amounts to a 8.98 Relative Athletic Score, which is very impressive.
Connerly is anticipated to likely be a mid to late first-round pick, or at worst a second-round pick, given his traits and experience. At 6-foot-5, 311 pounds, with 33.5-inch arms, he has the size to make things work at tackle at the NFL level, and would likely be projected to start his career off there before any moves would be considered.
