I seriously doubt we have this much left under the salary cap..it was reported we were at $28.5 mil then we signed 10 guys..but maybe that # was wrong..who knows.. But this was published yesterday in the philadelphia papers (mar 18th). I doubt the media in philly knows more than jurecki (who said were probably around $18 million or so now) - but one can hope..

tuesday march 18th:
The Eagles are $15.270 million under the NFL-mandated $75.007 million cap. Only three clubs have more room - Arizona ($24.390 million), Minnesota ($23.580 million) and Houston ($15.915 million). The Packers are $5.1 million under the cap.

I could only dream that the Cards had that much more to spend! Do those numbers include the rookie-pool?

The rookie pool is not accounted for until after the draft, because a team could trade and end up with more picks and therefore develop a bigger rookie pool.

So., is it fair to say that when one considers a rookie pool of say - 5-6 million - that we are down to about 12 million?

If we further substract 2 million as a contingency fund, then we'd be left with relatively 10 million to address free agent or cut signings of a DE, RB, one or two Wideouts. etc.

Not that much when you take a closer look.

Also, does the current CAP figure include the tender offers?

I've stated this before, the max the Cards really need for the rookies is about $3M. Yes, the rookie pool will be more, but any rookie in rounds 4-7, if they make the team, actually save money on the cap (as they push a higher player out).

Only the top 53 salaries are counted towards the cap and any rookie drafted in the lower rounds won't make it in the top 53 salaries.

I believe last years Cardinal rookie poll was $3.6 million.

I beleive the 28.5 million you quoted before FA started was considering the rookie pool (@ 5 million-alreade subtracted out), because ESPN had us at 34 million under back in January. I saw this stated somewhere else as well but don't remember where, just that it was more reliable than me or just an average board poster. This figure was also before they cut Gruts which saves us $2 million this year, so the Philly figure looks reasonable.
