The Suns have 2 first round picks but will they count against the cap?

As far as I understand they can draft 2 players and they will not count against the cap until they are signed.

So dump Jahidi White/Jacobsen on the Jazz plus the conditional New York pick or whatever is needed to get some more cap space.

Sign Kobe to the max and whoever else. Sign your draftpicks. Resign McDyess.

That would sound like a plan.

Why in the hell would the Jazz take these players? This is why the Suns need to move Marion, he is the only valuable player that is left. You can't just dump crappy players on another team.

Yes you can if you include a first round pick.

And White isn't a crappy player really. I would like to keep him but we would need the money for Kobe.

For Utah picks are more valueable than money anyway.

The jazz wouldn't mind White really.

If they do not have a big target in the FA market this summer, they could essentially take white, and a first round pick that will most likely be mid round. Whites contract is off the books after next season, so they would get 6 million relief then.

A more likely scenario is him being picked up in the expansion draft however.

Just moving a guaranteed first round pick would give us an additional 2 million in cap space I hear. BC that the 2 picks conbined will count as about 4 million, so I just took the average.

Gambo and Ash said (I still think they are morons) that they heard about the suns trying to move Googs to Utah with a pick. Save more money this season, still get the relief, and not have to pay for the pick.

However I would much rather them move someone like Eisly.

I believe that first round picks put a hold on cap space. They count against the cap until they are traded.

Unsigned first round picks are included in team salary immediately upon their selection in the draft. They count as 100% of the scale salary for that pick.

If the Suns end up with two lottery picks, I think they will move one to avoid the cap hit.

We should also consider the possiblity that Cleveland will get in the playoffs and owe the Suns a first.

As for Eisley, I think his status will depend a lot on how well Barbosa develops AND if they can sign Milos Vujanic this summer.

This summer, White will have only one year left on his contract. His status would depend on whether the Suns find a big man through free agency or a shooter (Kolbe, etc). Getting rid of White would force them to play Lampe whether he's ready or not.
