On tonight's radio show Salisbury mentioned to his audience that they could call into his show tomorrow because he was staying at ESPN and he wasn't taking the QB Coaching job. It's disappointing because he was Denny Green's first choice for the position, but I'm sure there are plenty of other candidates. Has there been any mention of other people that are being considered for the job? I would assume that the Cardinals have known about Salisbury's rejection of the offer for most of the day.

I guess Salisbury is content reporting on what others do instead of going out and doing something in the league himself. Wuss!

He probably enjoys making $400,000 a year. Taking a step down in pay like that (assume he'd make around 150K with the cards) would be kind of tough on the ol' budget, doncha think?

How much does he get at ESPN ?

Is that a real number or pure speculation ?

Portland Oregon these days.
I'm not sure about the money - I'd guess it'd be more at the Cardinals - but the jobs are night and day. ESPN you work easy hours and no pressure -- the coaching world starts right off with ten hour days, and wouldn't change until training camp, at which time you move up to 14 hour days, without weekends.

No way he makes that much. If the difference in pay was that large it would have taken him about 10 seconds to turn down the Cardinals job.

Are you talking local news anchors or ESPN?

Local news anchors, they make 6 figures, easily. It's why everyone covets "the chair" who is in broadcasting. Reporters don't make crap though, some of them just over min wage. Production staff also makes min wage. It's why I decided not to go into broadcasating after getting a Broadcast JLS degree, and instead went into marketing since I had a double major. Great decision. :)

And yeah, I've heard the 400K salary number from multiple sources. They could all be feeding from the same ******** trough, but 300-400K sounds about in line with a major company like ESPN and one of their analysts. That also might include things like speaking engagements, special events hosted, etc. Lots of little "revenue streams" for big-time analysts.

I'm certainly not goint to cry any alligator tears because Salisbury turned the job down.

He seems just a little too full of himself for me. Not that that would necessarily be bad for a QB coach. Off the top of my head, it seems to me that some of the greatest QB talent "developers" tend to be mellower guys who build the ego of thier QB, not themselves, anyway.

Looking back now with the proverbial 20/20 hindsight, this whole comedy routine of him making a big issue of whether he "goes or stays", didn't score many points on my personal rating scale.

I say now, good riddance, Let him feed his ego on the boob tube.

I mean, Jesus H Roosevelt Christmas......this whole "to-do" over a QB coach seemed a little over hyped from the get-go, anyway.

I *gasp* am in complete agreement with Tango.

Might have been an interesting hire, true, but now that we 'missed out' on him? Big friggin' deal. Now let's get a QB coach with some experience.
