Acho has four sacks in the past 5 games and 2 forced fumbles. If he played all season he would be on pace for 12-13 sacks and 6-7 forced fumbles.

Sounds like a good pick to me! Two sacks today against the rams line..but still nice!

Also, props to the D and Horton lately. They loose Toler, Rhodes, Dumpster Dan and their playing well.

Laslty, D-wash has 60 tackles and 3 sacks compared to 'the best LB in the game' Dansby who has 68 tackles and 2.5 sacks..interesting.

However, Dansby doesn't have Sam Acho playing next to him.

Said before and will say it again, Acho was a steal where we picked him. People judged the bad Texas team of that season and not Acho

this kid has been a freaking beast when in the game. makes me feel better knowing we probably have 2 of the 4 LBers set for the future of this defense. still not sold on Schohawk and Bradley just doesn't impress me at all, but 2 of 4 is a good start.

Smart kid too. He's picked up the system very quickly. Schofield might have more explosion but he's having a difficult time adjusting. Teams will probably start game planning for Acho but i think he's a borderline double-digit sack guy eventually. I want to see more 'hurries' from our D though.

Agree on Acho he has been a pleasant surprise... This D has made a complete turnaround.

Acho has completely gone ahead of Schonfeld, which is pretty surprising. How did this guy last to the 4th?!

I don't follow college football too closely but was surprised he was ranked so low going into the draft, glad he was though.

Acho is a freaking STEAL. I also like Schofield too, but he might top out as a rotational guy.

Acho is a bad, bad man.

Acho is a very solid player who probably is a lock for 7-10 sacks per season. He probably will never be that feared edge rusher that teams look for, but can create pressure and finishes at the QB. A very fundamentally solid player.

I would love to add Chase Thomas in the 3rd round of this upcoming draft. Another smart and tenacious edge player that would improve the Cardinals pass rush.

As we discussed before Acho will probably move over to Haggans spot where he can be a solid player, like Chike Okeafor was, for the next 5 years. A spot where you really need a fundamentally sound player. So we can still add that feared edge rusher you want.

Don't count the Scho-hawk out.

Acho has proven to be a steal of a draft pick, and is a heck of a ball player, but he is a freak when it comes to drafted players being made into OLBers. They historically take years to develop. Schofield has more speed than Acho, and if he can put it together and develop, will be a better player. Now, that's a big IF, but just because we haven't seen more than flashes from him yet, doesn't mean he won't turn into that beast we need.

yep -- but hey, why not next 8 years? (and yes, this is a rod graves bashing softball)

I am not giving up on Sho.

He was a fourth round pick -- so he is cheap and you can be patient. Two defenses to learn in two seasons with no off season either time. Some players just take longer.

And to be honest, I'm not sure that we shouldn't just add a couple more relentless, physical outside rushers rather than gamble on that one true "edge rusher". Get a stable of solid pass rushers (7-12 sack guys) and rotate them in and out throughout the game. Sacks are really overrated as constant pressure and hits on a QB can be as effective. See Michael Vick.

This D has made a complete turnaround.

A darksider might mention that the last 5 opponents all have pretty weak offenses. Philly is decent, but we had the luxury of Kolb informing what plays they were running.

True. But it does seem that the defense is getting more comfortable in the new system, especially the secondary starting to get the hang of the zone coverages. Acho's development is a huge help.

I would not mind if we drafted all offensive linemen in the next draft.

not this darksider. you gotta learn how to play defense somehow and if that happens against the dregs of the league, so be it.

The lack of a standard offseason really hurt this defense. During the first part of the season it appeared that bringing in Horton was a huge mistake. It was the worst I have seen the Cards play in years.

Man has this defense done a 180. What is really exciting is all of the youth we have on that side of the ball. Now if we can just get Kolb healthy and put together a few games with solid Offense and Defense we might actually look like a decent team on the rise.

I never would have thought at the begining of the season that our defense would be ahead of the offense at this point in the season. The entire unit has really come together.

Yeah it's nice, but I'm not sold yet. Recent games against the 9ers and the Rams twice isn't exactly facing offensive juggernauts. I get the feeling we're like Charlie Brown setting up to kick a football. Let's see what happens against Dallas and Cincy.

I noticed Acho did play in Haggans spot when the Cards tried to justify Stewart Bradley being signed and let him see the field a few plays.
