This week's episode of the "New Ice City" podcast features a very special guest in New York Rangers' lore.

Sam Rosen, the team's play-by-play announcer on MSG Networks for over 40 years, stopped by to chat with host Vincent Mercogliano as he completes his final season in the broadcast booth. The 77-year-old has announced his intention to retire after serving admirably as the voice for generations of Blueshirts' fans.

Rosen opened up about his emotions in the final days of his long run, why this feels like the right time to go and what he sees himself doing next.

The longtime New City resident was honored during a pregame ceremony at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, telling the crowd, "Thank you for being my inspiration all these years."

Vincent Z. Mercogliano is the New York Rangers beat reporter for the USA TODAY Network. Read more of his work at lohud.com/sports/rangers/ and follow him on Twitter @vzmercogliano.
