The Texas Tech basketball team has its first addition out of the transfer portal and it comes at a very crucial spot for the Red Raiders.

Santa Clara guard Tyeree Bryan announced his commitment to the Red Raiders via Instagram on Wednesday afternoon. The 6-foot-5 native of Orlando spent the past two years at Santa Clara after starting his career at Charleston Southern.

Bryan is a career 41.6% shooter from 3-point range, shooting over 42% from deep in his freshman and junior seasons and 39.2% as a sophomore. This past year with the Broncos, Bryan averaged 10.4 points and 4.4 rebounds. He has scored 900 points and hit 144 3s in his three-year collegiate career.

Bryan has one year of eligibility remaining.

What transfer Tyeree Bryan brings to Texas Tech basketball for the 2025-26 season

Of the players guaranteed to leave the Red Raiders after their run to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament, the most glaring skill departing is outside shooting. Chance McMillian and Kerwin Walton were two of the best 3-point shooters in the country during their time with the Red Raiders and it's hard to find replacements for that kind of outside touch. Bryan fits that need off the bat.

Bryan exploded for 35 points in a Jan. 18 matchup against Gonzaga where he went 13-of-21 from the field and 7-of-12 from 3. He finished the year with 17 games of 10 points or more, including a stretch eight straight games in double figures.

The best way to sum up Bryan is he has the size and length of Kevin Overton with the shooting ability of McMillian. It's not known if Overton will be returning or not just yet. If he is, then having both Overton and Bryan allows max versatility of lineups. If the Drake transfer goes elsewhere for next season, then Bryan can fit into a multi-faceted role Texas Tech will need next season.
