So once again the only Suns beat writer produces another article that is nothing more than a couple of quotes how the Suns still think they can make the playoffs.

http://www.azcentral.com/sports/sun...ns-playoff-hope-robert-sarver-steve-nash.html

Thu, Mar 1 vs Minnesota LOSS
Fri, Mar 2 vs LA Clippers LOSS
Sun, Mar 4 vs Sacramento WIN
Wed, Mar 7 @ Oklahoma City LOSS
Thu, Mar 8 vs Dallas LOSS
Sat, Mar 10 vs Memphis WIN
Mon, Mar 12 vs Minnesota WIN
Wed, Mar 14 vs Utah LOSS
Thu, Mar 15 @ LA Clippers LOSS
-Trade Deadline-
Fri, Mar 16 vs Detroit LOSS 3rd game on b2b2b
Sun, Mar 18 vs Houston LOSS
Tue, Mar 20 @ Miami LOSS
Wed, Mar 21 @ Orlando LOSS
Fri, Mar 23 @ Indiana LOSS
Sun, Mar 25 @ Cleveland WIN
Tue, Mar 27 vs San Antonio LOSS
Wed, Mar 28 @ LA Clippers LOSS

Hopefully they will wake up before the trade deadline because there is no way this team goes 21-11 to finish the season which they would have to to make the #8 seed. I mean even in march you can already pencil in at least 8 more losses minimum and in april they still have to play OKC, LAC, LAL, 2xSAS, 2xDEN, POR, HOU, MEM, 2xUTH, MIN. They only have 2 games against losing teams in march against @Sacramento and New Orleans.

Tell me looking at this schedule how many games would we win without Nash?

We have only 5 games left against below .500 teams!! New Orleans, Sacramento, @Sacramento, Detroit as the 3rd game on back to back to backs and @Cleveland.

Trade Nash now and it is likely we go 2-30 to finish the season or 3-29. Best case 5-27.

"We could use a couple thousand more people in the arena," Sarver said.

The guy is delusional. HE is the reason there isn't a couple of thousand more in the seats each night yet he makes a comment like that knowing that it will only add to his bottom line. He can *%@! off!

And really what is the point of getting the 8th seed so they can get bounced by
OKC in the first round. I said it on AZCentral and I'll say it here. This team has no vision for the future.

Opening day can't come soon enough!

I really have problems with the quote by Nash (who I admire) in the Paul Coro article referred in the link mentioned above.

"We've got to find a way to believe and fight for it and see what happens," Nash said. "You never know if we got on a five-, six-, seven-, who knows, 10-game winning streak, what it does to your chances. I don't know if we're good enough to do that but we're good enough to win some of these games we've lost. And if we do that, you never know when you'll get a little break or a nice bounce and you put yourself in the playoffs."

This sounds like a woulda, coulda, shoulda statement or like watching the pea under a shell game. Except most everyone can distinguish which shell the pea is under. I'm beginning to think Nash is going to get a huge new contract from Sarver.

Utah is also a losing team. In fact, they only have one more win than the Suns at this point. You can't pencil in those two games against them as losses, with or without Nash. But even the better teams, the ones that hover around .500, can be beaten by a team like the Suns. All it takes is for the Suns to get hot, and the other team to take a night off. Those things happen all the time. And a couple more wins against teams with better records will essentially put the Suns out of the running for a top-3 pick. In your scenario, there is little margin for error.

Also, the Suns aren't trading Nash now. They will almost certainly wait until the trade deadline and the only way I see them making that move is if they do really bad in the next nine games.

This is infuriating. When this idiot took over the arena was sold out every night. He has destroyed the team to the point where nobody cares to pay to watch and he says this?!?!

If the Suns get a real desperate offer before deadline and they dont take it because Nash didnt ask to be traded.... the Suns as a franchise might as well be changed to Phoenix Nash and make him the CEO/President/GM of the team...

Thats ILLOGICAL thinking and approach in running a sports business franchise.... the key word being BUSINESS.

It's one thing for the Captain to go down with the ship.....it's another when the Captain doesn't know the boat is sinking.

In a van...down by the river.
When will this franchise snap back into reality?
In order:
1) New ownership.
2) Hire basketball people to make basketball decisions. Hire accountants to make money decisions.
3) Spend money on a proven HC
4) Move away from the offensive basketball culture.
5) Use the draft, believe in your system and show the patience to invest in young players and develop them.

To answer your question....its probably never gonna happen.

The Suns are essentially dead to me this season.

All I can say is thank goodness for baseball and I can't friggin' wait for the Dbacks to start playing. They are a complete mirror image of the Suns. An exciting team with plenty of up-and-coming prospects, fantastic management from the ownership to the coaches, and a legitimate chance to compete for a World Series.

The Suns are just a disaster with a potentially horrible future.

Right now, I'd rank the local pro teams:

1) Diamondbacks
2) Cardinals
3) Coyotes
4) Suns

And it's sad, because historically and emotionally, it shouldn't be that way. Heck, I might even bump the Coyotes to #2 because at the time of this writing they have the third seed in the conference and lead the division by a couple of points over a consistent Cup contender--despite some of the worst circumstances in the league.

How much of the waning ticket sales are from the Suns not winning ...and how much is because they aren't as entertaining as they've been for so long?
I'd say its both at 50/50.
This town loves a winner obviously, but many Suns fans in particular seem to be attracted to the style of play more than anything....

Hmmm...

Sarvar asking for more fans? How about becoming a competent owner and doing something positive with the team first you clown. You've milked Suns fans enough. I hope no one shows up to games. Then only will he learn how to do business in this league.

He's a banker, right? He should start giving out free toasters to season ticket purchasers.

Here's my unscientific analysis:

Average Suns attendance right now:
15,286

Average in 2000-01 (eliminated in first round):
17,990
Average in 2001-02 (did not make playoffs):
16,316
Average in 2002-03 (eliminated in first round):
16,262
Average in 2003-04 (did not make playoffs):
16,351

That was the worst stretch for the Suns since missing the playoffs three straight years in the late 80s. Attendance is now worse, with Nash, and two years removed from the conference finals.

In short, I agree with this:

Reason people are not showing up

1. Lockout
2. Sarver
