I haven't felt this hopeless about the Suns since the drug scandal. This team has NO legitimate young starting talent. Is there another bad team in the NBA right now that has NO prospects?

I agree that the Suns should trade Nash if they can get a pick or a young "legit starter quality" player but I have no faith in the organization being able to make that happen.

I had high hopes for Sarver but I quickly soured on the guy and his decision making. Then rounding out your front office with an agent told me this train wreck was unavoidable. Sarver sucks. So does his front office. The consequences of how this franchise is ran has now trickled down to the coaches and players.

I have no faith this team can evaluate talent let alone pull off a trade that will actually make a lasting positive impact on this organization. Man............ I hope I am wrong because this team needs a serious infusion of young talent that we can look forward to. I don't see us pulling of a trade for a franchise caliber player.

I seriously hope this franchise has a rabbit in the hat for the sake of all us fans.

Hopeless and helpless. Gentry shouldn't be in the position he was vs. the Knicks -- imitate them to try to beat them.

Hill (6'8" - 225) vs. Stoudemire (6'10" - 240) at Center
Childress (6'8" - 209) vs. Chandler (6'8" - 225) at Power Forward

Why do I believe this? The Knicks were on the road, coming off a back-to back. We never lead in the game and lost by 25. The results speak for themselves.

I wonder if this wuss frontcourt was foisted on him by the Front Office or if it was Gentry's idea. Or an act of desperation.

Come to think of it, when D'antoni changed his front court lineup at the last minute, Gentry then did the same.

Playing catch-up never puts you ahead. Especially at the power positions.

I'm glad to see that you remain a Suns fan after last night. I would've thought the sight of Childress starting at center would've pushed you over the edge.

Actually, Childress jumped Center but Grant Hill covered their "Center" Amar'e.

Hey, if I stuck it out during a decade of Alvan Adams playing against real Centers at 212 lbs., I could laugh this off.

And that's what I did as it was unfolding. Especially when I saw that Gentry made a last-minute change to the starting lineup only after D'antoni made a last-minute change.

Each coach trying to out-do each other in playing Wuss Ball. It was sort of comical.

'Sort of like who could bring the biggest loser to dinner in the movie "Dinner For Schmucks". (It was interesting, by the way, that they didn't mention the word "schmucks" once in the movie.)

So our team is now Basketball For Schmucks.

Last night was the lowest point in recent memory. For all the people on this board who complained about D'Antoni and Amare - they just came back and kicked our ass up and down the floor. Wow. Talk about salt in the wound when they become Phoenix East when Nash is eventually traded threre too.

What a joke Robert Sarver is. I have defended him in the past but he has intentionally or not, screwed this teams future to embarassing levels.

I hope the business man in him sees this is a losing endeavor and cuts his losses.

I have been holding back for any glimmer of hope but after last night I am not going to anymore. I'm going to pay attention to the Heat. At least I can watch good basketball instead of this crap.

I'm still a Suns fan, that's never going to change. I'm not giving up on Sarver either. I really only blame him for the Thomas deal and the gifting of draft picks. Those are two pretty big items and we're defnitely feeling the pain of no young stars as a result but I just don't think it's hopeless. This season is hopeless, our immediate future is no better, BUT, if they start making moves that show they are willing to pay the price to build for the future I'll stay glued to the set.

There's really no franchise whose long-term future is hopeless. The Cavaliers were awful for years, then lucked out into James, who gave them a good run. The Clippers can be enthusiastic about Griffin. I can't think of a team in the league, except I guess the Bobcats, that wasn't either pretty good recently or has some intriguing young talent. Maybe the Pacers and Bucks are sort of outsiders too, but in any case, there aren't too many. Oh, the Raptors. Okay, there are a few.

Although the league is very bad at creating a level playing field with respect to competing for championships, it's pretty good at making sure that no one team stays a doormat for a long time.

Same here. I'll always be a Suns fan, but I love basketball too much to not follow the playoffs with interest. I'll hope for Dallas or the Hornets and am not shamed to admit that jumping on that Heat bandwagon is a lot of fun.

HELL no! :)

There's no way I'll be a Heat bandwagonner. Dallas all the way for me. Like to see Dirk, JT (and to a lesser extent Kidd) win a title. And Orlando in the East. JRich getting the hardware would be pretty sweet.

Heh, we should have a poll for "So which team are you rooting for now instead?" I'll take the Magic too.

I'm trying to come up with some positives that we can get from the Suns being in their current position of league wide laughingstock.

The best I can come up with is Sarver and his goons are more likely to be run out of town quicker this way than if we were to, say barely make the playoffs and get crushed in the 1st round for the next 2 years (because Suns brass would still consider that "success"), or if we went into full rebuild mode (in which case they would be given a pass for sucking for a few years). But the epic failure of how this season was handled can only bring about change quicker.

Go team go.

Won't happen. Donald Sterling hasn't been run out of L.A., so how will Sarver be run out of Phoenix, which is much more laid back, and frankly, pretty impassive when it comes to sports fans.

i'll take whatever team has the best shot of beating the lakers. The magic have no shot to do that, so unfortunately, i'm rooting for either the celtics (who i hate because of kg and a former roommate) or the heat (who i don't mind, especially because angelenos HATE/OBSESS over them so much).

while i don't think sarver will be run out fo phoenix, i do think he'll face CONSIDERABLY more heat than sterling does here in la. the clippers have been, are and will ALWAYS be LAST fiddle and the butt of every joke in LA, which is why Sterling really gets no crap. People EXPECT them to be horrifically inept. The same's not so in Phoenix where sarver took the crown jewel of the city and has turned them into a laughingstock, so he'll DEFINITELY get more heat in phoenix because of that.

that being said, i don't think that'll make him sell. but i do really wish i had "accidentally" spilled my coffee on him when i had the chance at hava java a couple years ago.

Very good point. The thing is, you're probably right about it not causing him to sell--all the fans that are unhappy should really show it by not buying merchandise or tickets. The second Sarver starts losing more than just a couple bucks is when he starts thinking about getting out.

^^^ Thats actually true. The NBA champions are really predictable. For example this years it either gonna be LA(again), SA, BOS, MIA or ORL.

It mainly has to do with the fact that its a 7 game series. So nothing "fluke" can happen. You have to have a real good team to win a 7 game series 4 consecutive times.

I haven't spent any money on the Suns since the KT trade.

Suns future prospects are actually better now than they were at the beginning of the season with the amount of cap they've created in 2012, but I'm not confident they won't do something foolish and desperate to ruin their position.

You're mentioned this before. Are you seriously concerned that this could happen? Myself, I don't think there's any chance at all that Stern would allow it. This situation would be completely different than what occurred in Seattle.

Even with OKC's success, I suspect if Stern could go back in time he would have handled the Seattle situation differently. And Sarver, mistakes and all, is too smart of a businessman to trade Phoenix for the rumored San Diego destination. Now, I could see him moving it to Tucson and getting away with it. The rest of the world isn't really sure where Tucson is anyway and from their perspective, who cares if we move from the city to the suburb.

Yeah, the Seattle thing came about because they couldn't get the arena issue straightened out. We don't have that kind of problem. You just don't up and move a team that's been around for 40 years, still has a good NBA arena and isn't a black hole financially.

The difference is, Phoenix don't have another basketball team in town for the people to root for, unless one counts the Mercury.

That's the genius in Sterling; he moved the Clips to Lala land where he could get by with putting out a losing product for decades, and nobody in LA could really complain because they still had the Lakers.
