Morning workout
05/12/2007 12:39 PM
The Saturday morning practice was short and sweet. The tempo was as high as it could be with 85 players going through a 90 minute workout.
It was tough to draw too many conclusions from the practice, because most of the time was spent in individual drills.
One thing I've noticed from the few practices the team has had is that offensive line coach Russ Grimm doesn't appear to be a yeller and screamer. Some people had the impression that Grimm was going to breath fire and berate his players. Instead, Grimm has been a patient teacher, working diligently on improving technique problems.
The offensive play of the morning was a nice long pass from quarterback Matt Leinart to receiver Matt Trannon, a rookie free agent from Michigan State.
Defensively, there appears to be some loyalty to returning players. Kendrick Clancy lined up at starting nose tackle over rookie Alan Branch, the second-round pick. And Aaron Francisco was the starting free safety over Terrence Holt, a free agent acquisition from Detroit.
