SAULT STE. MARIE — Sault Ste. Marie advanced to the second round of the High School Bowl following their 290-170 win over Gladstone during the March 22 broadcast.

Sault Ste. Marie was represented by team captain Nathaniel Sommers, along with Cora Sommers, Eleanor Maloney, Eliot Cymbalist, alternate Zayan Mahmud and coach Kim Badenski.

The team will now face Escanaba in the second round, which is set to air on April 5, according to a press release from WNMU Public Media.

The High School Bowl is a long-standing tournament involving 36 schools from the Upper Peninsula and Northern Wisconsin, celebrating its 46th year on WNMU-TV.

The series runs from November through April, airing at 8 p.m. Saturdays and 3 p.m. Mondays. The videos are also available on the Michigan Learning Channel.
