My sources are telling me that the Cardinals have received trade offers on both WR Anquan Boldin and DE Darnell Dockett, and that the Cardinals are very close to pulling the trigger on both deals.

The Dallas Cowboys are offering WR Patrick Crayton and their 2nd round pick in 2009 for WR Anquan Boldin. The Cardinals want the Cowboys to add T James Marten to the deal and will settle for Crayton, Marten and a 3rd.

The Atlanta Falcons are offering RB Jerious Norwood and their 4th round pick for Dockett. The Cardinals want Norwood and a 3rd and will add J.J. Arrignton to get it...but are strongly considering the deal, Norwood and a 4th, as is.

Crayton is a super slippery WR who put up good numbers last year, but dropped a key pass versus the Giants that Cowboy fans are still lamenting. He scored 7 TDs last year from the following distances: 3, 4, 4, 8, 20, 37, 59.

Norwood is the blazer at RB the Cards covet...he would need to be tendered next year in his 4th year, but the Cards would have money to burn if they deal Boldin and Dockett, and Norwood would be worth it. Two years down the line he and Tim Hightower would be a prodigious "thunder and lightning" combination.

Your Sources? or a "Lets play along with this certian Simulation"

Anyways. Norwood would be a super pickup as a change of pace back. But you have to remember that Dockett is just coming off of a pro bowl season, with 8+ sacks coming from the 3-4 DE position/DT position. Pass rushers at at a premium in this league and we could without a doubt get a lot more in that scenerio.

Boldin's value was much higher before the WR's strapped draft. Not a single WR was taken in the first round which shows just how big of a value we could have received for Boldin, but I think we could still get more then that.

trade two players who have made the Pro Bowl in their first four seasons and all you get are a 2nd, a 4th and three role players?

reason I am skeptical:

Usually for a deal like this -- we would have heard something from Urban, Somers ,Wolfley preparing the fans for this possibility-- the Cards always prep the fans for big moves they think will be controversial.

I do think that there is a strong possibility that Boldin is traded either this season or next. I just don't see Whiz having two highly paid WR's in his system and it's clear that they have sided with Fitz. I suppose it's the smarter long-term decision. Due to playing style and age, Fitz has a lot more years in him. Boldin is the better player now, but probably not for more than a few years.

Dockett, on the other hand, will be in his peak for several seasons longer. And, he's playing a position that is more highly coveted. As cited above, pass rushers are always at a premium and someone who can post a 8 sack season from a 3-4 DE position/4-3 DT position are extremely rare. I also believe that Dockett has not yet reached his full potential. I would hate to see him traded away.

UPDATE: I am hearing that the Cowboys' original offer for Boldin was their 1st rounder (2009), but the Cards need a starter opposite Fitz, so they brought Crayton into the discussion and the Cowboys countered with Crayton and a 2nd. My source also said that the Cards like what they have in the slot with Doucet and Breaston...and that they have always been high on Crayton, whom they think would be a good compliment opposite Fitz.

Uh, the phone is ringing...gotta go...stay tuned...this could be more.

Those, in my opinion, would both be terrible trades. I doubt any of this is true. Site your sources, or it didn't happen. Tabloids don't site their sources either so I believe this about as much as I believe that aliens planted their seed in Hillary Clinton and that Bill is really the love child of Hillary and an alien.

Wait WAIT. My sources are coming out of the woodwork too!!!!! Guess what they are telling me.

Rod Graves is in serious negotiations with the Buffalo Bills to send Larry Fitzgerald, Edgerrin James, Matt Leinart and our 2009 1st round pick for a conditional 7th round pick and a bag of balls.

Who believes me?? :)

Scources are also saying that if Rolle doesnt work at FS they are going to see if Levi Brown can play the position. They think his height and hands would be an assest in the middle of the field.

My source has also indicated to me that Matt Leinart is the illigitimate son of Ken Wisenhunt, which is the reason why he is the starting QB!!

More details tomorrow.....

Mitch your Boldin deal sounds pretty good. For your credability I hope it works out the way you say.

Mitch you would have to have a player like Chad Johnson to ever consider a "Q" replacement. We Need a SPEED Reciever, not a also ran and a maybe draft Choice in the future...!!! If we cannot get that type of a trade "Q" has to stay here and finish is Contract. Let's stop giving away great players for also rans to Dallas. That was our 1988-2004 Stradegy.

And Docket needs to have at least one more Pro Bowl year before we ever renegoticate with Him.

Both those deals are horrible. The Cardinals would be getting raped in both those deals.
