Hello,

I'm Gary. I'm wanting to take the family to the SB this year in your backyard. I have heard many tips and advice on how to get tickets and I thought to ask some of you locals for a better understanding.

I heard scalping is legal in a designated area normally across the street in a fenced in area. Do you know from past super bowls and big events like BCS finals that this will be taken place for the big game?

Also was told that if you wait of the game of day you can get them cheaper in this fenced in area than buying them online.

i was also told that a trick is to buy them off scalpers you save $400 off a ticket even if the tix are being sold the same cause online brokers charge you fees.

Again thanks for any advice. Would love to take the family for our visit to your city.

The scalper area is there for regular season games, I'm kind of doubting it will for the Super bowl

Isn't the NFL/Arizona Super Bowl committee upset with Glendale for Price gouging on Hotel rooms? I just checked NFL's official Ticket Resale site for prices on Super Bowl tickets. Current options range from $2,600 - $14,000 per seat.

That sounds reasonable.... :sarcasm"

I WENT TO THE Super Bowl in Tampa. There are NO SCALPERS. People offering $2000 - $5000 cash for a ticket and we even saw a few ladies offering 'other' services for a ticket...there wasn't one to be had. Again we were there all day from 9am till the 4pm start and went around the stadium drinking and having fun. I purposefully looked to see if there were scalpers and the price...saw over a hundred people looking many with large signs..not a single person selling. It's the only event I've never seen a scalper at.

Again you have NO shot of finding a cheap seat ...none
Shoot for that matter good luck even getting close to the stadium for less than a $50 parkIng
Buy tickets via stubhub (we did) they verify every ticket and guarantee your seat...we used em and they were awesome. I was rel nervous we might get fake super bowl tickets.

I'll add on to what everyone else has said... I doubt there will be a "scalpers" area close to the stadium. The tents were already being setup outside of the stadium for the last home game. My guess is they'll block off the four corners around the stadium for SB only events/parking.

During regular season games I've seen people scalping or looking for tix outside of the entry fences. I can almost guarantee it won't happen during the SB. And, like someone else mentioned parking anywhere close won't be cheap.

Scalping isn't impossible, just very, very difficult. Heck, I was able to get a smokin deal for gm7 of the '01 world series. Yes, different sport but there will still be tickets.

The problem you might face is not finding any seats together.

Good luck if you try it.. I live here and wouldn't try it.

Just my .02

I've been to 2 SB's - Miami in '95 (Niners blow out Chargers) and Seahags/Steelers in Detroit in '07, both corporate trips. Our sponsor paid $4800 APIECE for 50 or so tickets for the Detroit game. Nice seats, 40 yard line.. but sheesh, the total cost of that trip was OFF THE CHARTS! One restaurant wanted $25k to host our Saturday night dinner - and that was a "fee" on TOP of the actual cost. Are you ****ting me? We told them to GFT and found another venue without the "extra" charge. Still ridiculously expensive, of course.

I'd never go to one if I had to pay for any of it. Complete, utter ripoff. The NFL controls EVERYTHING, and it's ALL marked up to absurd prices.

Stay home, spend 10% of what you would have to go and buy a badass 80" mega-TV and enjoy the game. And the TV won't be gone when the final gun goes off.

I sell tickets as a side living... your best bet for Super Bowl is stub hub.. like someone said above if the tickets come up bad they compensate you which is nice.

otherwise its a gamble if you go off craigslist or with other brokers.

other note the week of is typically the cheapest (people with that kind of disposable income have typically already bought their tickets so the demand drops)

last note I've also been told by many that going to a superbowl isn't worth what you are going to pay IF your team isn't in the game. I like that tv idea lol

There is 0 chance you find any scalpers at the super bowl.
And to the above I went
Last is the cost as stated. Ticket was $1800 for upper corner
Flights out and back expensive
Hotels forget about it everything in all of tampa was taken we called even po dunk joints
Nothing to be had we ended up 40 min north of Tampa
Restaurants all have new menus with jacked up pricing
I estimated $4,000 I spent in total

FWIW, i also heard that prices drop in the last week before the game, so i held off buying my tickets for SB XLIII... only to watch the prices on StubHub rise steadily and significantly all week, while the number of available tickets dwindled alarmingly.

Fortunately someone on this board unexpectedly had a ticket available in the final couple of days, which he sold me at a more reasonable price.

That sort of thing might vary from year to year depending on circumstances, but based on my experience, i'd monitor prices closely on StubHub and buy at the first sign that prices are beginning to edge upward - but certainly before the last week.

I went to the tampa Super Bowl too and bought my ticket from a scalper a day or so before the game. Upper corner and I think the price was $1800 for an $800 ticket.
There were lots of scalpers. They just werent standing at the stadium door.

Buyer Beware!

There are numerous bogus ticket scams for high dollar events. They look real, have bar codes but are bogus tickets. They won't let you in the door and you'll be out whatever you paid.

There was a story on a guy who bought two $350 tickets to take his dad to the SeaHag game and the tix were NG. He went on the news to tell people - and he's out $700 with NO recourse. They said the only way to verify if the ticket is legit is to call ticket master and give them the bar code numbers. If the ticket is real the seller should wait there while you call, if not don't touch it!

Have the police number handy for your next call -:)

There isn't a chance in HELL you'll get a ticket for under $1500...bet the house if you do it's fake...the other question is why the hell would you give someone you don't know over $200 for ANY ticket...if you do you are a fool...and a fool and his money are soon parted.

It's not like it's not common knowledge that many many false tickets are made...when you have no money and nothing to lose but maybe a night in jail. Reality is you have NO chance of finding the guy/girl selling you the false ticket. They use a burner phone...throw it away the second you leave and they meet you in a public place where they aren't going to go again.

People I've been to the super bowl...THERE ARE NO SCALPERS! The is the best advice and warning you'll get. If you get suckered don't say you weren't warned.

If you want tickets BUY THEM ON STUB HUB!...that's the ONLY place I would trust that isn't connected with the NFL.

When we went to the Super Bowl in Tampa we got our tickets for $800 each (face value). Has the face value gone up a lot since then or are we talking secondary market prices? If you know someone who gets tickets but is not planning on using them...you may have a chance to buy some at face, IMHO. Especially if you have the money to spend and the person who "got" the tickets does not.

My friend got a single ticket for the Cards Steelers SB game day from a scalper near the stadium. Don't remember what he paid though. Sit tight the Cardinals season ticket holders lottery hasn't happened yet nor the ticket holders of the teams that are in it. A bunch will be hitting the market then.

I was approached several times in Tampa from scalpers. In the parking lot and when walking around the stadium. I already had my tickets that I bought on ebay. There were scalpers around the NFL experience years ago when the game was at SDS.

Face was $800
They've gone up in price
Season ticket holders of the home stadium get a small percentage. Basically only ring Of honor seats will eat up the allotment.
If the Cards go you have a real shot...
