Scouting Combine won’t include John Lott

According to the Cardinals, strength and conditioning coach John Lott won’t be attending this year’s Scouting Combine. Instead, he’ll be staying in Arizona to work with rehabbing players and supervise any players in working out on their own, according to the team.

Still, Lott has been barking at the bench-pressers for 16 years, and every year the Cardinals have players rehabbing and working out on their own. It’s unclear why a new approach is being used now.

That act has run it's course. Lott should be very happy. Those little cameos probably made him a bunch of money.

I'll miss JL on the teevee in Indy, but I applaud the move - it was one of BA's and SK's first "statement" moves since they took over. It sets the tone by letting the players know how seriously they take off-season rehab, weight training and conditioning.

No indication that this is a move by Arains and Keims. Look more like a move by players agent not wanting him.

Bullhead's original post implies that Lott is staying in AZ to "work with rehabbing players and supervise any players working out on their own."

That sounds like team policy to me.

This. Not sure why he was kept around.

Because all he is is a personal trainer? Players like him, think he gets the most of them? what do you guys want with a personal trainer? Is he not screaming enough for you or something?

The guy packs pounds on players without affecting their speed, not much else you could ask for in a trainer.

He gets the most out of them? if you say so. players like him? who cares? He is the strength and conditioning coach on a team that seems last indivision in those categories.

Clean house.

Not all players buy into him. Many workout with him to "check the box".

Who cares about Lott or if he will be there anymore.

Most importantly is that Geno Smith, Matt Barkley, and Glennon have all promised to workout fully at the combine, including passing drills. Should be very interesting.

Are you saying we need to get our minds right?
