Crazy talk. A few years back when Chancellor was out, their run defense wasn't nearly as good. In Seattle they talk about how Thomas holds together the pass defense, while Wagner and Chancellor hold together their run defense.

Yes I do agree that overall, Thomas is the linchpin [sic], but Chancellor is a key component of their run defense.

You mean in the first few games of the season, when the Seahawks habitually underperform?

PAH-LEASE!!!!!!!!!

maybe ...again MAYBE the dumbest thing said on this board ever

...and Cam should highly consider retirement. A defender who has constant impact and head contact his risk of total paralysis is off the charts.
The game is NOT worth living in an electric wheelchair unable to function for the rest of your life.

added he's got his guarantee $

That defense looked all right with Sherman on the field and likely NFL Defensive Player of the Year Bobby Wagner on the field and Chancellor and Sherman on the sidelines.

"Cliff and Kam are going to have a hard time playing football again,'' Carroll says of Avril and Chancellor, but indicates it will be their decision.

This is the point in time where the rebuild is going to get tough and as we’ve seen before with Carroll at USC, when the going gets tough, that tough guy gets going as far away as possible.

Wouldn’t surprise me if he was gone in a year.

im not buying it

they will transition from a defense first/ offense is good enough kind of team to an offense first team with a good enough defense

as long as you have a QB -- and by the second half of the year, thats all they had -- you have a chance

Their offense is Russell Wilson and Doug Baldwin. No O-line, No Running Game.

Seattle fans want to get rid of Bevell, Cable or both - without change on the staff, no chance of the offense improving considerably...

Here is hoping no coaching changes are made :)

I think their team is in a lot of trouble. Wilson's going to get hit the wrong way one of these days and without his mobility, they're going to be in a world of trouble.

they are freeing money up by saying goodbye to Avril and Chancellor (and likely Sherman). With Bennet, Frank Clark, Wagner and Earl Thomas -- its still a good defense, just not killer

the money saved goes to offensive line and running game.

Also, between Wilson, Baldwin and Wagner, the cap numbers for Just for those three go up by $21 Million. All three were on very low cap numbers in 2017, take a huge climb in 2018

Sherman would save them 11M. Chancellor only $2M. Avril would save $7M. All that just pays for Wilson, Wagner and Baldwin.

They also need to decide what to do with Jimmy Graham, who was the only other consistent part of the offense. He is a UFA, so likely will command big money.

Seattle is a mess right now.

Bad Oline. Bad Rb's. Baldwin and Lockett are their Receivers. Paul Richardson is slated to be a free agent.

They're letting Jimmy Graham go into free agency. They didn't use him right, but he's still a top shelf TE. 10 TD's this year. Someone is going to pay him big.

Sherman blew his Achilles
Bennett thinks he's gone
Avril and Chancellor both might be gone and done.
They'll cut Lane, but there will be some dead money.

While lots of people are saying they'll create some good money (and dead money) by cutting alot of these guys, there's a problem with this.

Sheldon Richardson and Duane Brown want big money. They traded for them. They both could get deals that average about 15-20 million per season a piece. Brown is under contract for one more season, BUT, he was holding out for a contract in Houston. So there's a potential problem there.

So yeah, 30-40 million in cap space for these two players, per year. Close to 10 already factored in, but that's still a chunk.

They also need a new kicker. It did amaze me that they signed the guy who missed the kick that let them advance to the next round of the playoffs. They saw first hand him blow that ice bowl kick.

Oh and to get Duane Brown and Sheldon Richardson, they had to trade their 2nd and 3rd round picks in 2018, and 2nd rounder in 2019.

All those holes from this year (and seasons past), coupled with all these new ones, missing high picks, and tight cap space is a problem. They aren't in cap hell, and still have Wilson, but they're hurting, and it might only be the beginning of them hurting.

The Cardinals might not be the NFC west team blown up the most this offseason. It may be the Seahawks.

I agree with this.

The biggest loss that the Seahawks could endure this year would be losing Michael Bennett. He is one of the key players on that team.

Personally, I think Wagner and Thomas are far more valuable to that defense than Sherman or Chancellor.

Just when you think the Seahawks might be losing some steam, The Rams and 49rs seem to be on a huge upswing.

Money saved by cutting Sherman, Avril and Chancellor is already spoken for Wilson, Graham and Wagner. Their cap hit goes up $21 Million next year

When Seattle won their Superbowl they spent money on their offensive line in particular pro-bowlers Russell Okung (highest paid player on team) and Max Unger. The next year they were third from the bottom and would have been dead last the following two seasons if they didn't acquire Duane Brown mid year.

Wilson is amazing. Watching him play, one can tell he is not good on short/intermediate routes. Throws off receivers routes by scrambling in pocket too much and turning his back. Doesn't slide into pocket ala Brees.

But man, he throws a beautiful long ball, runs and throws on the run great. Once athleticism goes, will he be good enough? Wilson always exceeds expectations so who knows! Also it will not surprise me if he is not a starting QB in 3 years when he cannot run anymore.
