Seahawks | Stevens remains out for Week 2

Mike Sando, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports Seattle Seahawks TE Jerramy Stevens (knee) remained out of practice Wednesday, Sept. 13, and will not play during Week 2.

Mike Sando, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports the Seattle Seahawks have placed LS Jean-Philippe Darche (hip) on Injured Reserve, officially ending his 2006 season.

Mike Sando, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports Seattle Seahawks LB LeRoy Hill (stinger) practiced Wednesday, Sept. 13, and said he's close to 100 percent healthy.

TE Jerramy Stevens (knee) ...will not play during Week 2...LS Jean-Philippe Darche (hip) on Injured Reserve...

Neither of the 2 injury reports are insignificant.

Stephens was Hasselbeck's checkdown guy. His backup (Mili) has been banged up too. It's forced Hasselbeck to use his fullback (Strong) as a checkdown option. Strong caught 6 passes vs. Detroit. Taking away the TE means that we only need to focus on Alexander and Strong in outlet situations rather than Alexander, Strong and Stevens.

About Darche - Long snappers don't grow on trees. It could disrupt Seattle's kicking game.

Mili is fine and was the starting tight end until he got hurt last year and gave way to Stevens. Stevens was never expected to be back for this game (or the next three for that matter) so it's not like this is a development or anything.

As far as the long snapper, it sucks but the guy they signed is a five year starter at the position. Not exactly a huge disruption.

Hill's return to the lineup is very notable however. The guy had 7.5 sacks from the linebacker position in his rookie season last year with 2 of them being against Arizona.
