Sean Payton drafted Terron Armstead with the New Orleans Saints, and now Payton wants his former left tackle to coach side by side with him on the Denver Broncos.

Armstead hasn’t been retired for a week, but he’s already getting an offer for a new career. Armstead called it quits on Saturday, Sean Payton called Armstead to seemingly offer him a job on Tuesday. Armstead relayed the story to Kay Adams saying Payton "called me (Tuesday), and he wants me to work with him, or for him, in whatever capacity."

While Armstead shut Payton down in the moment, he didn't close the door completely on joining Payton on the sidelines. "Sean, get off my phone," is how Armstead initially reacted. He did tell Adams, however, that he and Payton "have to have another conversation."

On the night he announced his retirement, Armstead praised Payton and credited Payton for helping mold Armstead into the leader he is today. That respect and admiration is clearly a two-way street.

It's unclear in what capacity Armstead would join Denver. His old teammate Zach Strief is the Broncos' offensive line coach so there's clearly a connection there (among many others). If he decided to join the staff, however, it would mark the first time the duo would be on the same team since both leaving New Orleans in 2022.
