During the third weekend of the 2025 SEC baseball season, there were certainly multiple results that garnered the attention of many across the conference, some of which were sweeps.
In all, a total of five sweeps took place across the SEC this past weekend, while a pair of ranked teams met in different places such as Athens, Nashville, and Tuscaloosa. However, just how did each of those results affect our weekly SEC baseball power rankings?
So, prior to midweek matchups beginning, here is the latest update of our 2025 SEC baseball power rankings, which is current as of Monday, March 31.
There is likely no doubt as to who the SEC's worst team is up to this point, as Missouri sits at 9-17 overall with an 0-9 record in conference play to be the final SEC team yet to pickup an in-conference win so far. Missouri is now riding a three-game losing streak following a sweep against Texas in which they were outscored a combined 29-9 entering an April 1 matchup with UAPB, which is a two-game set prior to traveling to Arkansas this weekend.
South Carolina's struggles also continued this past weekend, as the Gamecocks were swept by a second-straight SEC opponent in the Tennessee Volunteers to fall to 1-8 in conference play. The Gamecocks are also now 16-12 for the year, and will return to action Tuesday against Presbyterian looking to snap that skid.
Mississippi State's trip to Baton Rouge was not necessarily a memorable one, as the Bulldogs were swept by LSU in a three-game series where they were outscored a combined, 27-15, to now sit at 1-8 in SEC play. Also now 16-12 for the season, Mississippi State's next game comes April 1 at Memphis in non-conference action, with their next SEC series coming this weekend against South Carolina in Starkville.
Texas A&M finally got their first SEC win of the season this past weekend, defeating Kentucky in Game 1 by a final score of 9-7. However, the Aggies still dropped the series to now sit at 1-8 in SEC play, as well as 13-14 overall, and will host UIW on Tuesday ahead of a challenging road trip to Tennessee this weekend.
Having evaded them so far, the Florida Gators finally got their first SEC win of the season this past Friday night with an 11-8 victory at Ole Miss, but still dropped the road series in Oxford to now sit at 1-8 in conference play, as well as 19-11 overall. Florida will host North Florida in their next game April 1, as well as Vanderbilt in SEC action during the weekend.
Now sitting at 17-9 overall, as well as 4-5 in SEC play, Kentucky won their first conference series this past weekend two games to one over Texas A&M in College Station, with the Wildcats also impressive offensively by scoring 31 total runs during the three games altogether. The Wildcats will not play a midweek contest this week, and instead will return to action this weekend against Ole Miss.
Auburn dropped their first SEC series of the season this past weekend, falling in all three games at Georgia to sit at 4-5 in conference play, as well as 20-8 overall for the year. With one of those losses having been a 9-6 defeat in 10 innings, Auburn's next game will come at home against UAB on April 1, and then the Tigers will host rival Alabama in SEC action this upcoming weekend.
The Vanderbilt Commodores had easily their most disappointing series of the season so far this past weekend, as they were swept at home by Arkansas in a three-game set, all while being outscored 22-7 in the process. Sitting at 20-8 overall, as well as 4-5 in SEC play, Vanderbilt's next game will come against Western Kentucky on April 1, and will be followed by a trip to Gainesville against Florida this weekend.
After a back-and-forth series win against Florida this past weekend in Oxford, Ole Miss now enters this week with a 21-6 overall record, as well as a 6-3 mark in SEC play. A close series in which Ole Miss and Florida tied in total runs, 25-25, the Rebels will now host Jackson State on Tuesday night prior to traveling to Kentucky this weekend.
Oklahoma's record now sits at 21-5 overall following a trip to Tuscaloosa in which the Sooners dropped two-of-three to Alabama, but still sit at a solid 5-4 in conference play. Looking ahead, the Sooners will play one of the SEC's top midweek contests against Texas Tech on a neutral field, and then host LSU in Norman for a ranked series this weekend.
Speaking of the Crimson Tide, Alabama is coming off a weekend in which they took two-of-three at home against Oklahoma to now sit at 25-4 overall, as well as 6-3 in SEC play. Alabama will now face Samford to begin this week, and then travel to rival Auburn during the weekend for a ranked SEC series.
The LSU Tigers have now won four consecutive games following a weekend sweep of Mississippi State in Baton Rouge, although two were fairly close. LSU now sits at 26-3 overall, as well as 7-2 in the SEC, entering this week where they will host Louisiana Tech during the midweek, along with travel to Oklahoma.
Arkansas had one of the SEC's most impressive weekend's, sweeping Vanderbilt in Nashville in a series where they outscored the Commodores a combined 22-7 to advance to 8-1 in conference play, as well as 26-3 on the season. Now riding a three-game winning streak, the Razorbacks next game will come April 1 against Grambling on a neutral field.
The Texas Longhorns have now six consecutive games following a series in which they swept Missouri in Columbia to advance to 23-3 overall, as well as 8-1 in SEC play. However, not all was good for the Longhorns, as Texas is set to lose star Max Belyeu for the remainder of the regular season according to reports.
The Georgia Bulldogs continue to be one of college baseball's hottest teams, extending their winning streak to eight consecutive games following an impressive home sweep of Auburn to now sit at 8-1 in SEC play, as well as 28-2 on the season. Georgia will now put that winning streak on the line April 1 against Queens prior to a huge road SEC series at Texas this upcoming weekend.
Standing firm in the top spot yet again is defending national champion Tennessee, who has now won six-straight after sweeping South Carolina in Columbia to improve to 26-2 overall, as well as 8-1 in SEC play. The Volunteers' next game will come April 1 at home against Tennessee Tech, and will be followed by a College World Series Finals rematch with Texas A&M this weekend in Knoxville.
