Anyone notice how regular ASFN whipping boys Conor Jackson and Chris Snyder are hitting since the ASB?

CJ:

315/.369/.546/.915 in 140 PAs

CS:

.337/.404/.568/.972 in 105 PAs

It's a shame they're under the spotlight when they screw up and you can hear the crickets when they perform.

I don't recall anyone complaining about Conor's bat--he's always been fairly solid on offense; it's his defense that blows. I haven't been watching lately, so I have no idea if it's improved.

He hit well again last night, had a couple of mental lapses on defense.....again.

BTW- Some folks have stated that the team needs more power from the corner infield spots (and I agree). Texeira would have been the perfect solution, especially down the stretch.

Not gonna call out specific people, but there have been plenty of comments about his bat on here, esp earlier in the season.

Is Tex worth the cost of players and salary, though? He's only a rental for 2 mos and he's gone.

I am baffled completely by the fact Snyder is playing well.

Why's that? At the age of 23, he hit .301/.389/.520 in AA. Skipped AAA and had a piss poor year as a full-time C at the age of 24. Came back and had a great partial season behind Estrada last year.

Jackson is the 3rd best hitter on our team this year. A bad lineup would be even worse without him.

Gotta get better in the field though.

Boo! Hudson on 2nd and both CoJack and Snyder fail to drive him in. :( I've always liked Snyder...

I definitely was hating on Jackson for a long time, but he is beginning to turn it up a bit. Still not confident with him. I have always liked Snyder though.

that is why. Somehow I remember him playing poorly for longer than a year.

Sadly, our new $30M man is hitting .242/.336/.394 in the 113 PAs since he's signed his contract.

Imagine our 1st and 2nd round picks actually living up to their potential for 2 months. Baby steps, I guess.....

I can't believe that someone is crowing about the "accomplishments" of Jackson, I don't think I've ever seen a weaker 4 hole hitter. Snyder at least you can say that he is good defensively.

AVG .281 | HR 11 | RBI 46 | OBP .364 | SLG .447
Jackson's numbers... I have faith that guys like Chris Young, and even Stephen Drew will become stars, but Jackson looks like another weak hitting player at a power position. Getting no power from him and Tracy is bad because you need some pop from the corner infield positions. I can't believe that you wouldn't rather have Tex, to have an actual power bat in the middle of the lineup would make everybody's job easier.

Well it sometimes takes a young player a year or two to show their potential in the majors. Even some HOF caliber players like Mike Schmidt or All-Stars like Dale Murphy struggled at the beginning of their careers (not saying either is a HOF in waiting, though). Of course, I think someone once told me that Schmidt and Murphy were more of team players by sac bunting and all, at least they saw them do it a couple of times. You don't see Jackson or Snyder doing that.

Byrnes fading in the second half? Shocko dismayo!!! He does this every year, and we overpaid for the guy because he is a fan favorite. I like his hustle and energy, but in no way is he worth 10 million a year on a team with a limited budget. The somersault throw is getting really old as well, there is a reason that nobody else does it.

Well in the context of what the team can afford, Jackson's production comes pretty cheap. Tex has a cost that the team can't handle because of the debt acquired in the Colangelo era.

His production comes cheap, but everybody on the team is cheap. (With the exception of RJ and his wonderful production) If it were my choice, I would have invested money in a power bat in the infield, and used Jackson and some other pieces to fill the 3rd outfield position. Otherwise I haven't given up on Quentin yet although it seems the organization has.

Not sure if you know or not, but I am pretty sure that Tex isn't a free agent until the end of next year, and the majority of the deferred money is supposed to come up at the end of next year.
