Seeing red xs or blank square boxes

On almost every post, or beside some user names or here and there, in titles or forum lists. Started yesterday and is worse now.

At the bottom of this input window, all icons show as blank boxes with no name and some have a name but a red x beside the name.

Sorry, just figured it out. Should be under the no smillies thread. It is all due to showing no smillies.
