Crawled Through 5 FB Fields
I believe the cardinals will have 7 picks in this draft, the 6 they currently have + 1 compensatory pick---so i am going to make 7 selections here (two at each spot, depending on which player is on the board when the Cardinals pick:
1A. DT Sheldon Rankins, Louisville.
What I love about Rankins is how explosive he is in his hips and yet how quick his feet are. We need interior pass rushers who can quickly shed their blockers and take down a scrambling QB. Rankin is made to order. In this regard his shorter height actually works in his favor, a la Aaron Donald.
1B. OLB Noah Spence, Eastern Kentucky.
Spence has the edge quickness and pursuit sped the Cardinals need. His off the field issues appear to be behind him---but that might allow him to be on the board at pick #29.
2A. QB Dak Prescott, Mississippi St.
Won MVP of the Senior Bowl, for leading the South to a nice TD on an excellent back shoulder pass. What I love about him is his leadership, his feet, his toughness under pressure and his natural, accurate throwing motion.
2B. C Nick Martin, Notre Dame
Brother of the Cowboys' All-Pro RG Zach Martin, who is a natural center who takes complete charge of the offensive line.
3A. Sean Davis, CB/S, Maryland
Steve Keim says he wants to add a DB with size and speed, well Davis not only has both size and speed, but he is a tough kid and a big hitter.
3B. LB Deion Jones, LSU.
Naturally gifted athlete who is garnering a good deal of attention following his strong performance this season at LB.
4A. Miles Killebrew, S, Southern Utah
Wanna see a a tough, big-hitting safety---check this highlight tape out.
4B. QB Brandon Allen, Arkansas.
Played well at the Senior Bowl showing natural zip on his passes and excellent mobility.
5A. TE Bryce Williams, East Carolina.
Good size (6'6"), runs very well and puts up good RAC numbers.
5B. CB Jonathan Jones, Auburn.
Reminds me so much of Jerraud Powers, an other Auburn press CB.
6A. G Sebastian Tretola, Arkansas.
Of all the guards at the Senior Bowl, he impressed me the most. Good size, strong base, powerful frame.
6B. RB Aaron Green, TCU.
Smallish RB with high kicking style and breakaway speed. If he runs well at the Combine, he might be a Day 2 (Rounds 2-3) pick.
7A. CB Eric Murray, Minnesota.
Good height---long arms---aggressive, but keeps his cushion well when necessary.
7B. OLB Dadi Nicolas, Virginia Tech.
An edge player who may slide because lacks photo-typical size. But, he's got a strong motor and the kind of quickness we want on the edge.
