KFFL Cardinals | Team contacts Rodgers-Cromartie
Wed, 23 Jan 2008 17:52:03 -0800

The Arizona Cardinals have contacted Tennessee State CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

He is 6' 1 1/2" 185 lbs.

Not sure what contacted him means perhaps they interviewed him.

Well thats about as vague as they could report it. They can probably say the same thing about 50 other players. Thanks for the hard hitting reporting there KFFL.

Senior Bowl coverage:

• I was covering the North practice yesterday but I heard all about how good Tennessee St. cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie looked and he certainly lived up to the hype today. A smooth athlete with quick feet and fluid hips, Rodgers-Cromartie saw action at both safety and corner and made an amazing interception, displaying excellent leaping ability, hands and ball skills. This guy is the real deal!

Is he related to Cromartie from SD?
yes, he is his cousin. I think Cromartie would be an absolutely sick FS. He has the ability to play corner but he could be a game-breaking type FS. Put him there and Rolle back to his nickle role and we have some guys that can make plays. Oh yeah, and draft Tracy Porter as well.

So are you thinking wait till the third or jump on him in the second round?

Sweet. This was my sleeper 3rd round pick as I watched the Senior Bowl and he is raw BUT AMAZING.

I love how KFFL is reporting our interest. Why is this news? Can't be good for our ability to value draft him and to hear his name out this early.

Casons gonna be a player in this league. It might not be right away, but he'll be a starter yr. 2 on. The only problem I see is that we have a player just like him in Rolle. We need more speed in that position IMO. Maybe he'll burn up the track, I don't know. A 4.4 would be nice. Then I'd consider him. Or Talib.

ideally, we get Porter(who is quickly becoming one of my favorites in this draft) in round2 and Cromartie in round 3. Right now, Cromartie is probably a 2nd-3rd round choice so we'd have to be lucky to get him in round 3. If both guys are sitting there at 50,i think i would take Porter but it'd be an awfully tough choice.

That's my concern as well. Like I said before, I think they are very similar players - regardless of what Cason times in at.

They are completely different players coming out of college. Rolle was a blitzing aggresive CB. Cason is a zone CB. Completely different styles of CB in college.

Cason would probably fit in better as a cover 2 corner.I don't think the Cards play that scheme.I love SD's scheme,blitz the QB and let your DB's make some plays. Sure you gte burned every now and then but i think ,with all the turnovers, you come out ahead in the end.

That wasnt even close to what he was known for. His was primarily known for being an aggresive bump and run coverage CB. It is why so many were so so about the pick becuase they just passed the new CB rules the year before and many thought his biggest assest would be lost to him. His forte was playing close to the line of scrimmage, not 10 yards back.

I'll second this, for what it's worth.

Rolle = Quentin Jammer
Cason = Ronde Barber.

I would love if we borrowed that scheme from the Chargers. Actually I would love anything besides the soft cover three that gives up a first down on any third and long.

They are a cut and paste news aggregator, I believe. They don't have reporters on staff.
