Guys and Gals. With the impending launch of the Xbox 720 in late 2013. Would you sell your existing Xbox 360 in the next 4 to 5 months instead of letting it collect dust after the new system launches?

I am seriously thinking about going without my xbox for about 6 to 10 months. If the price point is around $300 of $400 for the new unit then I could realistically recoup 50 to 75% of that cost back simply by selling my system & games before it becomes widely known that it is launching.

As much as I'm going to want it, I'm going to wait at least a year to get the 720 to let all the bugs get worked out. There is nothing more frustrating than dropping $400 on a system and it crashing a day after the one year warranty expires because of an early production bug.

I got a 1st genPS2 that stopped working after a year and a half and I had a 1st gen PS3 that crapped the bed 13 months after purchase, the laser stopped reading the disk and then I had a refurbed 4gig Xbox that lasted 12 months before I got the red rings. Needless to say ill never buy a PS again, but these things always seem to have bugs when they first come out.

I just bought a 250gig slim and love it.

I guess I've been lucky. The only system I've had that crashed was my 360, but that was after 6+ years. My decision is usually based on the games available as to whether or not I'll buy a system early. Often times the launch games are pretty terrible.

My xbox is the main entertainment hub oh my house, I couldnt go without it. We watch movies, netflix, hulu and play games on it. I will hope to g4t a 720 on launch day and keep my 360 till then. Once I get the 720, the 360 will go in my kids room.

my first 360 lasted 3-4 years andf I am still on my second one.

I got my 360 a year after it launched. Still works like new today. I think it is 6 years old now. Very happy with it.

But I don't go online, and I only play one game exclusively per year. I haven't played anything but Fifa for a year now. lol

The 720 will become my blu-ray player, my netflix, hulu, and amazon player. So, naturally, it will become a higher priority for me.

I guess you will have to weigh the cost/time you spend on the 360 vs. the 720.

I will get the 720 launch day and pass the 360 onto children.

:headbang:

I dont like waiting in line though.

The 360 what I did was scoured websites until i finally found one not sold out and it had a bundle of crap with it for far more money but I was ok with that.

What are your thoughts?

Can you really recoup 50 to 75% on a used system?

Regardless, in my case, there is more entertainment value in the 360 for our household than without for that amount of time. (Although I have two 360's. :D )

If you preorder it early enough at Gamestop, there is no waiting. I have done with with the 360, Wii, and now WiiU. I have 48 hours after it is released to pick it up. No waiting, no mess.

With the 8 to 10 games I have, 2 controllers, wifi reciever etc.... I will get at least $200 to $250 for it right now. In 8 months..... Probably not.

Most experts agree that the 720 will be between $300 & $400 at launch.

if its 3-400 thats crazy cheap for a brand new next gen, could pre order that day one without blinking.

Question youll have to ask yourself is: is 250 worth not having your xbox for 8 months. To me: hell no. I have 2 kids that would take the hand me down xboxs, depending on what you have id give you like 50 or 75 when you get your 720

I will not sell even if it's the only way to make any money. I use my 360 to watch Netflix on all the time. I might not even be buying any games in the Spring either, but with Madden and FIFA coming out in the late Summer/Fall I can't be without my Xbox:)

My 360 just crapped out on me in November, so I bought a new one. It will be a while before I move on to 720 now.
