it is mel gray. Hard to believe that the '70's Big Red never won a playoff game
or more than 2 division titles. When you fire the coach for a 7-7 season
(1977) because you do not want to pay him more says alot. I loved those
days of the "Cardiac Cardinals" playing the Cryboys at sunny Busch Stadium.
WOW! Those were the days.

Yes, Mel Gray did wear #85. However, somebody else with more seniority on the 1975 or 1976 Pro Bowl roster must have worn #85 because that is who the picture looks like.

Correct.

Left to right bottom row dobler, bakken, banks, hart
top row left to right dierdorf, gray, wehrli

I just hope that wasn't the year Hart set the pro bowl record for interceptions?

All offense, terrible defense. Except for Wehrli.

Those two playoff games in that era (1974 and 1975) were heart-wrenching...the Cardinals just got their butts handed to them both years (Vikings in '74, Rams in '75). The only way the Cardinals could win a lot of the time was to outscore their opponents. They ran out of luck in the playoffs.

Loved those teams though...I took so much crap as a kid for being a Cardinals fan, but in 1974 and 1975, no one looked forward to seeing me in school on Monday mornings. I let those other bandwagon Cowboys, Steelers and Dolphins fans/kids have it whenever I could...

:D
