Recent mock drafts have started settling in on Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders being top-five selections in next month's NFL draft. But what if one of Colorado's stars falls in the first round?
Well, our friends over at Touchdown Wire gave us a taste in their recent mock draft of what it might look like if Shedeur Sanders fell outside the top 10 and what team might pounce at the opportunity to draft the Colorado signal caller.
That team would be none other than his father's old team, the Dallas Cowboys. Touchdown Wire has the Cowboys selecting Sanders at No. 12 overall, the second quarterback off the board after Cam Ward, who went No. 1 overall to the Tennessee Titans.
Not only does Touchdown Wire have Sanders going to the Cowboys, but they also lay out the next few years. They suggest that any failure from newly hired head coach Brian Schottenheimer and starting quarterback Dak Prescott will result in them being supplanted by Deion Sanders himself.
While it has been widely speculated, including rumors this offseason, that Deion Sanders could leave Colorado for Dallas, a move away from Boulder is not imminent. However, Shedeur Sanders's falling to the Dallas Cowboys in the upcoming NFL draft would undoubtedly get the rumor mill started once again about when Deion could move to the NFL.
It is only a mock draft, Colorado fans, so there's no need to freak out, especially considering that Sanders falling to No. 12 is also unlikely.
As for the Heisman Trophy winner, Travis Hunter, he goes to the Cleveland Browns at No. 2 overall over Penn State's Abdul Carter. Hunter would immediately help out whoever is under center for the Browns and become the top playmaker on the roster.
Both Sanders and Hunter will find out their fates soon enough when the NFL draft gets going April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
