Sheffield Wednesday part company with Garry Monk

Garry Monk has been sacked by Sheffield Wednesday - just days after the Championship club’s points deduction was reduced to six. The club confirmed Monk’s departure on Monday night, following Saturday’s goallless draw against Millwall. Wednesday are second bottom of the Championship table, having last week seen their 12-point deduction halved for breaching spending rules. The decision to cut Wednesday’s deduction has given the club hope of staying up, as they now only lie two points behind fourth-from-bottom Coventry City. More to follow
