Should Brandon Lyon be on this 40 man roster?

What is his redeeming value? I predicted the walkoff homer before he made his first warmup pitch. Isn't he supposed to be a low ball/sinker type pitcher? He consistently throws down the middle belt high mediocre movement pitches which any major league quality hitter hits out of orbit. I believe he should be released so that another roster spot can be freed up for a prospect. It's time we realize the disaster of the Schilling trade and cut the final vestige of that debacle. Lyon sucks!!!!!!!

No. I forget who it was earlier in the year but I was saying Lyons was not good but this one person was saying he was one of the best relievers on the Diamondbacks.

I don't think he'd make our AAA Champion Sidewinders squad. He is just really bad. When he enters the game it reminds me of the pitchers they parade out for the Homerun contest. Everything grooved and no speed or ball movement.

Brandon Lyon can throw batting practice at AA El Paso as far as I'm concerned. Might as well roll Terry Mulholland out there... LOL

The bullpen can use some more reliable pitchers but I don't really have a problem with Lyon. He isn't THAT bad. He can be very good sometimes so I'd keep him, but in a smaller role then they usually have him in. Any good relievers available this offseason?

He's better than Julio, Choate, Daigle, Aquino, Koplove, Bajenaru, and Pena (although Pena has more upside), and he's about on par with Vizciano, Cruz, and Medders. So in other words, yes, he should be on the 40 man roster.

Lyon has had his share of blown saves, but he still has an ERA below four and is one of the top pitchers on the team in WHIP.

What happened to Valverde? Did he start sucking again after he came back and pitched well? I was rooting for him to do well...I haven't had time to watch many games.
