He definitely is not the same hitter he was last year. I don't know if Seitzer has anything to do with with his lack of offense but he needs to get his confidence back.

And I suppose we should just send down Young, Quentin, Callaspo, Snyder, Montero, and Hairston as well because they are struggling equally with Jackson...

Jackson has 5 RBI and an average near the mendoza line. The only player on the roster worse if Callaspo. Yeah there are a lot of struggles on this roster, but none have full year of experience under their belt like Jackson

53 year old Tony Clark is swining a huge bat right now and Conor just can't get his head out of his butt

Most of those other guys I mentioned are pretty close to that mendoza line as well.

Every single person you mentioned is a platoon player except Carlos. Why would they send a platoon player down? I am a big fan of CoJack, I even have him as my adopted Diamondback on this board, but I think he needs a few weeks down in Tucson to get his confidence back.

Young is a platoon player? Since when?

My fault, I missed Young's name. Also, Young is starting to be productive. He is at least showing he is growing. Conor has not produce at all. He needs to regain his hitting from last year.

Also, Ryan hit it on the mark that this is Conor's second year. He should be progressing, but that is not the case. I hope CoJack can get out of this funk but if he continues to struggle, who knows what long-term affect it could have on him?

I'll give Chris Young the benefit of the doubt because he doesn't have the same experience. If he makes the same bonehead plays next season then that's a different story,

Also, he has the potential to go off for a few homers or steal a few bases.

Conor gets the occational double, but by and large he gives this team nothing

Having an extra year may be a fair point, but I still don't understand why that means that Jackson should be singled out when over half the team is experiencing the exact same struggles at the plate. The best way for Jackson to get out of his slump is to keep letting him face major league pitching until he warms up, just like with what was done with Tracy (who really turned it on before getting injured) and Drew (who still doesn't have the numbers but the team and those scouting him still like his plate approach).

Who is going to replace Jackson? Clark is not an everyday guy and has not been one for years, he best serves this team coming from the bench. Barden? Yuck. Chris Carter? His defense makes Jackson look like a gold glover.

I hope you're right about CoJack but a few weeks down in Tucson could help. Clark has been a lot more productive than Conor and I think he could handle two weeks of starting. I highly doubt CoJack will ever be sent down but I thought I would ask to see if anyone else thinks that would help him.

I know Seitzer has been tinkering with CoJack since spring training so who knows if that has had anything to do with falloff in productivity.

I think the big problem is Melvin. The guy is just not managerial material.

Conner to me is either vastly overrated or vastly underachieving. He was handed the first base job and so this should not be an issue of job security. For a guy his size he does not seem strong or able to put a jolt on the ball. He seems very soft to me and does not look very strong. He seems to play without passion. Frankly, I'd trade him if we could get something for him.

I'd also like Chip Hale to be made the manager. Bob Melvin needs a front office job as a scout and be moved off the field.

I said before the year (and I still feel this way) I don't care of the D'backs go 0-162 as long as the young guys are playing, learning, and getting experience. So really, I don't care that CoJack is struggling, the question is, is he learning? The answer, probably. What more can he learn in Tucson at this point? Probably not much, other than a trip down there 'motivating' him. I'm not sure motivation is the problem with him right now, everyone in this line up is struggling, but who cares? The team is 2 games over .500 and 2 games back in the division, thats about all you can expect w/ all this youth. Let the young guys grow, kinks and all.

Exactly... I think a few weeks down in Tucson will do good for him. I like Tony Clark better in the line up anyways. He's the only hitter with any pop in his bat.

These Guys?

Why is everyone bashing Quentin, Hairston, Young, CoJack and Montero. But no mention of Drew? .237 BA and 1 HR, 12 RBI... I wouldn't say he's performing either. And unlike Hairston, Montero and Quentin, he's getting consistent playing time.

Right now these young guys are going to struggle. We should not jump the gun and send them down. That will only hurt their confidence. Give them time to develop. We should not have expected .300 batting averages and 20 HR's...

CoJack is sort of an exception though. He's been around the majors for a while now. He shouldn't be sent down. He just needs to play through the rough times...

.

When I made the graphic I only used guys that were truly flirting with the Mendoza line. I decided this was anybody under .220.

He can't do worse then Conor is doing. I love Conor to death, but I think I'm on my deathbed with him

Why? What did you honestly expect from the Dbacks this year? Anything more than a team around .500? If so, you were diluting yourself. So, the Dbacks are right about where any reasonable person should've expected them to be, and thats while they are being hamstrung by a terrible manager. Let the guys stay where they are and learn, get AB's, and lets not worry too much about wins and losses this year. What part of 'rebuilding mode' is so hard for people to grasp?

Actually, he can. And would be. Chris Carter is not the answer, and while it is a hyperbole, stating that he makes Jackson look like a GG winner is one rooted in fact.
