Should Gonzo sit for a few games?

I think he should at least a few games and try Conor in left. I doubt Conor will be playing a lot of games at first because Tony Clark has been hitting very well. Against Glavine last night, the D'Backs did not do much but Tony got a hit and walk. Meanwhile, Gonzo hit into a huge double play when the D'Backs had two on and no outs.

Also, we're not to far away from the September callups.

Frankly Gonzo should be sitting permantley. His defense is terrible and his hitting has gone way down. I hope he decides to retire after this year.

I don't think Melvin would put Conner out there. If he did sit Gonzo my bet is that Q would then start or Tracy would go to left, Green in right and Terrero in center.

I don't think Melvin likes Jackson otherwise he would give him significant playing time.

BoMel, aka Clarabell (in honor of his clown phobia) likes veterans, period. That's partly why Seattle dumped him, because they felt he wouldn't be good with the youngsters they planned on bringing in, but the other part was their veterans wouldn't put out much effort for him.
So we ignore all that, assume he'll resurrect in the desert, and let him bring along his incompetent hitting coach, who really helped a lot in Seattle.

Here, he's already contributed to blowing up Lyon's arm and exhausting Cormier's arm; he told Valverde to stop showing enthusiasm on the mound, sits Conor (9 PA in the past 7 games.)...

He's got to go.

Please show me where Clark has said that he does not want to be an every-day player this year? I saw on the Diamondback Inside a while ago he is happy to be here and that he is playing.

Right now Tony is one of the best offensive players on the team and he has earned to be in the starting lineup. As for next year, I think Conor should be given the shot to play first every day. Tony sees that the future is with Conor and knows he will be used mostly as a pinch hitter and occasionally play the field. But for this year I have never read or heard him say he does not want to start. Right now they can't afford to keep his bat out of the lineup.

Well, if the first inning is any indication of how the game is going to be, the Diamondbacks are not going to score a lot. First and third and no outs and Gonzo strikes out and Clark(who I have praised) grounds into a double play.

Is it me or do you guys feel like you're watching the movie "Groundhog Day" when the Diamondbacks get men in scoring position with less than two outs?

Shawn Green just showed why he should not be considered an elite centerfielder. 1-0 Mets with a man on third, ready to score.

Can't disagree with the Melvin comment but...

I'm perplexed at why Connor Jackson should play more. He's a horrible first baseman and what I've seen from him at the plate has not been impressive. The 2 homers in Chicago were wind blown specials and in the at bats I've seen he appears overmatched by good breaking stuff. The Dbacks will need to improve his fielding otherwise I see him in the AL as a DH. He looks like the next Erubio Durazo.

As for Melvin, I think his problem is that he cannot energize a team and get them fired up. There appears to be no accountability for mistakes and his game decisions at times leave you scratching your head. This was surprising given he was supposed to be the brains behind Brenly. Bringing in Jay Bell as the top assistant stinks because he and Melvin are both boring nice guy types. Wally Backman or someone like him was just what this club needed.

Thank heavens you're not running the team. Conor Jackson is one of the most well regarded propsects in baseball and in only his rookie campaign getting occasional plate appearances. Overmatched by breaking stuff? Good Lord, he has more walks and xb-hits than strikeouts. The guy's going to be a stud but I do agree with you that he should not be playing first base at the major league level considering he's only been playing the position for less than 12 months. But he was called up because the team needed offense and they smartly didn't trade prospects for it. Next year he needs his ABs and whether he gets them playing 1B or LF doesn't matter as long as he gets them.

Conor Jackson will be starting next year. The guy has all the talent offensively to be an all-star. He might not be a Mark Grace on the field, but his bat will make up for his defensive liabilities.

I wonder if we could sit the entire squad and just play the AAA team in September. I am willing to bet the winning percentage in September would match August's if they would do that

Should Gonzo sit for a few games?

My dream is that they fire BoMel and hire a total cornholio.

Early BP for everybody.
Bench Gonzo ( I thought this would invoke the most possible anger)
Extra infield practice.
Everybody must report at some rediculous time every game day.
Fines for everything imaginable.

Basically make everyone's life a living hell until this team starts showing some emotion and playing hard on every pitch.
