Sean is not getting any younger and I was wondering if you think the Coyotes should trade Sean now to get some young talent. There should be some teams that really would want him.

Burke will not be traded until the Coyotes are out of the playoff race.
Although if the Coyotes asure themselves a playoff spot by the trade deadline and Boucher keeps playing like he has been, they may trade Burke in March when another team doesn't have to pay a lot of his salary.
But, considering Burke's level of play his contract is not excessive or lucrative. If Sean Burke is the player that improves the Flyers' chances of winning the Stanley Cup Bobby Clarke will be happy to take on the 1 remaining year of his contract at $4.25 million ... especially since they will be dropping Jeff Hackett and his $3.0 million contract this summer.Originally posted by KingLouieLouie
True, but how many years are remaining on Burke's contract? The problem is that most teams will be hesitant to trade for any lucrative contract until the CBA is resolved.... Even if Burke's contract did expire this year, would someone be willing to give him a long-term deal?
Also, I must admit that I'm not familiar with any of the Coyote's top Minor League goalie prospects, but would any of them be ready for the NHL if they do indeed decide to trade Burke, and either Boucher or Bierke got injured?
I think what might also dictate Burke's fate is where Curtis Joseph ends up, because the Wings are very particular on who they end up in exchange for him....

I still contend that will ultimately dictate where the Coyotes would trade him (if they're eliminated from play-off contention before the deadline and do indeed decide to let him go) is where Curtis Joseph ends-up....The Wings are at a point where they'd be willing to accept almost anything in return for him....

I have to disagree Louie. Maybe in the beginning of the year they were desperate to get rid of him but right now I don't think they're desperate at all. Hasek's groin has caused major problems in the past in Buffalo and could cause a problem in Detroit as well. It's anyone guess whether he will be able to hold up deep into the playoffs. I don't think Hasek is the clear number one right now. Not trading Cujo may turn out to be a blessing in disguise for Detroit. IMHO, I don't think Cujo is going anywhere and I really don't think Detroit is even shopping him anymore.

The Wings have Manny Legace who could possibly be the #1 goalie for half the teams in the league...He had been regulated to #3 when they began to showcase Cujo, but then returned back to #2 when Hasek's injury began to affect him.... There is plenty of time between now and the trading deadline (isnt it the 3rd week of March?), and if Hasek can revert back to his '02 form before then, and if Legace continues his above-average play, they'll be in the best position to trade CuJo......
Yet, I've addressed this on other forums in the past....Hasek only has 1-year on his contract, and I wouldn't be shocked if he does decide to retire again...If that's the case along with the Wings trading CuJo, they'll be stuck with Legace (which wouldnt be too bad since he deserves the chance), but unprovens in the back-up role.....

If they thought Legace could lead them to the cup they never would have thrown all that money at Cujo. Legace is a solid back up and maybe could be a starter. But Detroit expects the wings to go deep in the playoffs every year, if not win it all. That would be a pretty good gamble making Legace their number one. Who knows though, that's pretty much what the Avs are doing right now.
I still say Cujo isn't going anywhere this year and will probably be their starter next year.

Legace is not a goalie who can win you 16 playoff games. They will keep Joseph until Hasek proves he is ready to ge through the playoffs. Joseph, if he is traded won't be dealt until the trading deadline.

Yes, we do know it is true about Legace. If the Red Wings had any thought of Legace being able to win 16 playoffs games they never would have thrown that abscene amount of money at Joseph 2 summers ago. Legace is not a #1 goalie. He is a very good #2 goalie. When Hasek went down earlier this season who became Detroit's #1 goalie? Not Legace, but Joseph.

Isn't Legace injured?

Actually, I meant to type "wasn't" Legace injured. That's why Cujo was recalled so quickly after being sent down.
DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings made several roster moves on Tuesday to compensate for injuries.
First, the Red Wings recalled defenseman Niklas Kronwall and forward Kevin Miller from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League, assigned forward Nathan Robinson to Grand Rapids and placed defenseman Chris Chelios on injured reserve.
Chelios suffered a sprained knee in Monday's contest against Los Angeles and is expected to be out of the lineup between three and four weeks.
Miller leads the Griffins with 18 points (10-8--18) in 24 games with the Griffins while Kronwall is tied for fourth with Robinson at 13 points (2-11--13) in 25 contests.
Next, the Red Wings recalled forward Jiri Hudler from Grand Rapids and placed Steve Thomas on injured reserve.
Thomas will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Thursday. He is expected to be out of the lineup between five and six weeks.
Hudler is currently second in scoring for the Griffins with four goals and 12 assists for 16 points in just 15 games while earning a plus-11 mark.
And finally, the Red Wings recalled goaltenders Curtis Joseph and Joey MacDonald from Grand Rapids. Goaltender Dominik Hasek will be out of the lineup through the weekend after re-aggravating his groin injury during Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Kings. Goaltender Manny Legace is day to day after injuring his knee during warm-ups Monday night.
Re-capping the transactions: the Red Wings placed Chris Chelios and Steve Thomas on injured reserve; assigned Nathan Robinson to Grand Rapids; recalled Kevin Miller, Niklas Kronwall, Jiri Hudler, Curtis Joseph and Joey MacDonald from Grand Rapids.

Agree 100%.
You've got to ride Boucher while he is hot, but Burke is still pretty solid.
