We just lost our best D player on a non-contact play when we had game won already. At what point do we start worrying about needlessly leaving players out there? Or do we?

45 players dress on gameday. Take out Kicker, Long Snapper, Punter. That is 42 position players.

The skill positions are 5-6 deep and may all be playing at the same time.

Outside of QB, no team really has the luxury to sitting all of its stars, especially a team like the Cardinals, which has a ton of them.

We need to clinch the bye before we start worrying about that. If we beat Green Bay then we can rest the starters on week 17.

Arians said as much who the heck do you put in... Plus being a non contact injury it could have happened anytime.

I'd tolerate resting Palmer if we are faced with a meaningless game in week 17. Otherwise, hell no.

There was 3 minutes left in a 23 point game. They weren't coming back even if we had a practice squad in.

How do we gets practice squad players dressed to come in, let alone the other active roster players who didn't dress? Only 45 players dress and that numbers includes a punter, kicker and long snapper. Want to talk about expanding the rosters, you would have a valid point, but talking get about pulling all starters is not actually possible considering we dree only 8 DB's' and 7-8 OLmen.

No one said pull the starters but you take out your marquee players. HB, PP, CC, FR shouldn't have seen the field after it got under 5 minutes to go. I'm quite sure we have 2 DB and 2 DL to bring in for a few snaps. We do have players who play the scout team, no? Use them(not the PS players but roster players who aren't starters).

Peterson is our best defensive player, but Mathieu was our 2nd best.

We can't play scared, especially when we haven't clinched a first round bye yet.

When we're up by 24 in the second half on Green Bay, Then you can think about it.

There was 3 minutes left when HB got hurt. Taking him and PP out at that point isn't playing scared. It's playing smart.

This game was over once DB got the pick 6, their 78 yard TD bomb be damned. Wouldn't have mattered squat to sit some guys at that point but especially after the FG put us up by 23 with mere minutes remaining. But what's done is done.

Then you only have to look at the Carolina/NYG game yesterday to see that even that isn't safe.

We are in a prevent defense at the stage of the game, which calls for 6-7 DB'S and a few are already banged up. You pull your gimpy ones to not aggravate the injuries. It is the way it works and will always work.

Hindsight makes you look so smart. :sarcasm:

If you know there is an injury, that is obviously different.

To me, this compares to throwing the ball on a 3rd and 2 when you are up by 7 points with only 2 minutes to go. Yeah, the safer play is to run, but that isn't the nature of this team, nor do I want it to be.

This sucks bad but it happens and you win a Super Bowl in spite of things like this because it was never going to be easy in the first place.

We still have the horsepower to do this everyone just has to step up more now than before.

Yep, that's why I said you can think about it at that point.I should have said you can start to think about it. Personally, I love the way BA keeps the pedal to the metal.

I'm not going to play Monday Morning QB. We have one of the best Head Coaches that we have ever had in BA. Not going to second guess him. He knows what he is doing.

I think no overall, but would be nice to get more gameplay for the depth players. Especially if we get the bye next week - 3 weeks of no contact is not good for NFL conditioning. I have seen seasoned teams rest some but rarely does it work out - need to keep the same routine as what the team has been successful with rotating depth in for longer periods of time.

Its a tough thing. That can backfire badly too. Ive always been a person who would rather a team enter the playoffs without getting out of their grove of playing. They will already have a bye week.

My point and question extends to Palmer too. Was it really necessary to send him back out there at that point in the game with his hand taped up? I just can't wonder if we shouldn't be more careful and a little bit more prudent at this point in a season like this. We aren't in such a position but rarely, if ever. I would rather us lean toward protecting our assets the most. Take a bit more care rather than the whatever happens will happen sort of mentality. Our key players don't have to play ever minute of every game. We have nothing to prove at this point. It just doesn't hurt to be cautious. Win the games we need to win at this point, and make sure as much as possible that everyone is ready for next game. We only need win 3 games at this point to make it to the S.B.
