So all we do is enter user names and passwords for our most important accounts?

Just in case, I will give them my social security number as well...

Is it legit? It actually seems fairly safe as it only asks for email address and most of us give that our pretty regularly. The only thing that scares me is that it's aimed at the "average person". Makes it sound like an "idiots wanted" offer.

Saw it recommended on lifehacker and here: http://www.komando.com/coolsites/ .

Can't be a phishing scam since all you enter is your email address (no passwords or other info). Worst you'd get if it was not on the up-and-up would be spam.

It seems legit and it's been mentioned/recommended by reputable sources, IMHO.

It's pretty basic - just checks your email address against published "hacked account" databases. Saves you the time of searching through them manually.

Wow, I put in my email address. It pretty much immediately told me I was safe.

Weird.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

LulzSec recently made public a list of e-mails with passwords, but not all the passwords were for access to e-mail -- they were for private web networks. I imagine all this site does is log compromised e-mails that hackers like LulzSec makes public and calls it a database.

But, of course, hackers that actually mean you personal harm aren't going to make public they exploits, so beware, anyway.
