4. Whom would you most like to play with?
Alex Rodriguez, Rangers 16.6%
Barry Bonds, Giants 7.0%
Roger Clemens, Yankees 6.5%
Sammy Sosa, Cubs 3.5%
Jeff Bagwell, Astros 3.1%
Greg Maddux, Braves 3.1%
Derek Jeter, Yankees 2.8%
Scott Rolen, Cardinals 2.8%
Jason Giambi, Yankees 2.6%

Wow....3 "clubhouse cancers" or regular egotistical jacksters on the list.

Guess players realize that guys with ability and talent are better to play with that those "clubhouse" guys with "presence".

If the fans were really right and it wasn't just b.s. cliches then I would figure Mark "clubhouse presence" Grace would top the list. Doesn't appear he got much support if at all.

Maybe he's really not that enjoyable to play with :? and really not worth that roster spot.

You certainly are bitter about it huh? Nobody has said anything about Grace having a great year. But it is clear he is helping with the young players...or are you simply ignoring what these players are saying in the press?

Listen Grace's play this year probablky doesn't earn him the roster spot but I can guarantee you he will keep it for a couple reasons. He is a likeable guy and the fans like him, Colangelo is an old Cubs fan and he most certainly has a soft spot in his heart for Gracie and he simply knows alot about the game both on and off the field.

Whether you like it or not, he is a leader on this team.

Finally, why would the way the players vote be some sort of indictment on Grace? Jeez, you are a young guy to be this pissy.

Besides having the Babe rise up like a zombie to qualify, Stan should be ranked MUCH higher!!!

Pull your head out of the stats book and read this column and tell me that Grace has no value:

Also, please explain how the Dbacks could be playing any better with Grace out of the picture?

I think you said it yourself with the usage of the verb "playing." Mark Grace isn't playing and, therefore, had about as much impact on this winning tear as Dwayne Murphy. Maybe Grace should take his job or be assistant to the hitting coach, but if giving hitting tips is criteria for a job as a reserve baseball player, Jim Lefebvre can play some middle infield for us.
Seriously, Mark Grace gives two good hitting tips and you want him to take a roster spot away from two good players.
Mark Grace over Tony Womack? OK.
Grace over Danny "1 HR" Bautista? Definitely.
But Mark Grace over Matt Kata? No.
Mark Grace over Robbie Hammock? No way.
Mark Grace over Junior Spivey? Absolutely not.
So to answer your question, the D-Backs would be playing just as good without Mark Grace the baseball player. Without Mark Grace the hitting guru/good teammate may be another story.

I can't argue with somebody who buys the kinda stuff an article like that is pimping. Whether I have my head in a statbook or not  .

It is pointless to argue for or against Grace "adding to the team" without actually performing. Do I think he has improved the players around him? No I don't believe that could have any nominal effect over said players actual talent.

Mark Grace is the media ***** that Dan Bickley is selling to everyone. I'm sorry that it makes me sick.

Now if you want to keep this personal and get into a baseball knowledge pissing contest, then by all means let me know......

You win. All hail DWKB!! I have been shown the light by the wonderkid of baseball.

Sorry you feel he doesn't add to the team when players have said he has helped them and it has made them actually produce more...at least in the short run. I guess I was wrong.

Off with Grace's head!!
