Some suprises to me:
Texas Tech is overrated and will lose as soon as they start Big 12 play
Pitt at 19? They know Wanstant (sp) is still the head coach right?
Clemson is too low. They shouldbe good and have a very favorable schedule.
WVU at 14? Dont they know they have the ost exciting backfield in college fb in Pat White and Noel Devine?
Kansas doesnt excite me

Should be a fun year!

I'd like to see Texas Tech win the Big 12. Just because.

Concur about Pittsburgh.

I really dislike the concept of preseason Top 20. Most teams get by on reputation and name. The rest of the teams end up playing "King of the Hill" with a total uphill battle.

My take is

#1 Georgia
May be best at end but could still have 2 losses. SEC is brutally strong.

#2 Ohio State
Another free pass after getting humbled in post season. Please figure out Big Ten is over rated, America.

#3 USC
Until they get busted for violations they will be there every year.

#4 Missouri
Nah. Big 12 has much more balance. Not better than Oklahoma, Texas and Tex Tech.

#5 Florida
Too low, but Georgia/Florida game will be the decider.

#6 Oklahoma
Really good team. Better than Mizzou.

#7 Auburn
How does SI get 3 SEC teams in the top 7? 4 in the top 10. Theyare the 4th best team in the SEC. Way too high.

#8 Texas Tech
Harrell to Crabtree is money I would pay to watch every week. Go Red Raiders. Keep that mug full Mike Leach. :D

#9 LSU
Another 2 loss top ten team.

#10 Wisconsin
Weak Big 11 rep. They will walk through early schedule.

#11 Clemson
Best in ACC. Probably under ranked.

#12 Tennessee
Another SEC team. It is getting very crowded at the top. That is 5 top 12 teams from SEC. They do play each other occasionally, don't they?

#13 Texas
Probably right in a balanced Big 12

#14 West Virginia
The Rich Rodriguez factor is gone. Big East should be in top 20, but Maybe it should be USF, Pitt, U Conn, or Rutgers in this spot.

#15 Kansas
Lost their DC, Bill Young to U of Miami. Maybe he knows something about Kansas. 5th Big 12 team on this list. Very crowded.

#16 Arizona State
Dennis Erickson 2nd year. Probably better than last year. Senior QBs rule. Go Devs. NBot enough respect for Pac 10.

#17 BYU
Yup. Very good team. Probably end up in BCS.

#18 Oregon State
Why not? PAC 10 Deserves more love.

#19 Pittsburgh
Dave Waanstedt has been recruiting his socks off. Third year charm. Better than WVU. Thursday night games will be plentiful for them.

#20 Oregon
They need the love, but this almost seems token.

Overall, the ACC got jobbed big time. Boston College, Va Tech, Wake Forest not even a blip on the radar. S I has no credibility. This preseason list will be vastly different than the final BCS poll. Way too imbalanced by conference weighting. Not enough room for 3 conferences with 5 reps each. Maybe they pick them by their subscription breakdown.

Kansas has possibly the best LB core in NCAA football this year with Mortensen, Rivera, and Holt.

We've also replaced RB Brandon McAnderson with the JC POTY Jocques Crawford.

wally, many comments I agree with, some I don't. Certainly, the knee-jerk pre-season love of some conferences is redundantly silly.

Just because it's good for football to have more than the usual suspects have success, I want Texas Tech, Kansas, Missouri and BYU to kick ass. And, of course, my ASU.
