Lyle hit 2 HRs yesterday giving him 14 for the year. In other words, what Green and Gonzo have combined.

I won't mention how many Glaus has out of respect for the suffering.

Yaeh one of the three worst D'backs trades todate. We gave up alot for a guy that played 20 games. Other bad deals: look at the P Brad Penny has turned out to be, Schilling doing pretty well in BOS.

If the Dbacks could throw away their entire current roster and build a team comprised of players they've traded away or let go they'd be true contenders.

ANybody want to give it a shot?

Im going off memory here, so there may be some guys Im overlooking or forgetting about.

C - Barajas
1B - Overbay
2B - Uggla (although I have a feeling he is going to catch Matt Kata Disease)
SS - Im blanking here... Cintron? Womack?
3B - Glaus
LF - Dellucci?
CF - Finley?
RF - Sanders?

SP - Johnson
SP - Schilling
SP - Penny
SP - Capuano
SP - Kim

I cant even think of anybody to stick in the pen aside from Mike Myers (and we all know how big of a hit he was here).

So in other words, no, they wouldnt really be true contenders. Take away the three guys we traded for salary reasons (Johnson, Schilling, Glaus), and you actually have one awful team. Aside from those three, there arent too many names on there that are actually missed.

Good list but sub Patterson in for Kim. SS I'd give edge to Womack for base stealing ability.

You actually have to ponder Womack vs Cintron? That seems like a no brainer to me.

I think Cintron has an edge in hitting.

Maybe, I think its sort of a wash, but Womack has the edge in speed, fielding and the all important "not being an idiot" category. Womacks been a key player on a few good teams, and there is a reason for it.

But, oh, how I dreaded seeing Tony Womack popping up one pitch after another, trying for this 3 HR per season.

It's why he started the seasons batting leadoff, then moved to 8th.

He showed less common sense as a hitter than any ballplayer I have ever seen.

In his last couple of years here, he (for some inexplicable reason) stopped stealing bases as well.

Glaus sucks - he's hitting .240 - AGAIN.

'Sucks' is relative -- for a classic slugger, his numbers don't suck, with 23 HR, 60 rbi, a .342 OBP, and 47 BB.

say, vs. Richie Sexson: .218 BA, 16 HR, 59 RBI, .288 OBP.

or vs. any DBack you care to stick up there.
