Carlos Silva extended the best start by a Cubs pitcher in 43 years by allowing one run over seven innings, Ryan Theriot scored four times and Chicago beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-1 on Monday. Silva gave up four hits, struck out five and walked one in his first start against Pittsburgh since 2003. He's the first Cubs starter to go 8-0 since left-hander Ken Holtzman was 9-0 in 1967.
