From his Mailbag:

Q: My roommate and I were discussing Matt Leinart and his continuing shenanigans and wondered where Leinart would be if he couldn't throw a football? It took me literally about 0.3 seconds to determine he would be none other than Jason Wahler, pretty boy of "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills." You know, the Orange County party boy known for club-hopping, hanging with second-rate celebs and [involved in] various police incidents. Am I wrong here?

SG: You know, I've flip-flopped on the Matt Leinart era at least six times over the past two years, but any time a reader compares a starting QB to the soulless, dim-witted bad boy who got back with LC on "The Hills" solely because he wanted to be on TV again, and the comparison actually works … that's a terrible sign for the 2007 Arizona Cardinals. Almost as terrible as the fact that their team name is "the Arizona Cardinals."

Ouch.

Matt will prove him wrong. He likes to enjoy himself no doubt but he never would have gotten this far (or been as successful) with out having a good head on his shoulders.

It is him. This guy is a complete putz and is the exemplar of everything that is wrong with sports fans, particularly of the Boston variety.

Whoa. Whoa. Whoa.

He might not be for everybody but the guy is absolutley hilarious and spot on with his sports knowledge 99% of the time.

Just not this time. ;)

I don't care for his snarkiness and forced irreverence.

And thus, no one is allowed to like him. I have spoken. ;)

How can you take anything seriously from a guy that admits he watches "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills"

What would (Insert name) do if they couldn't do their (insert profession)

What a stupid question. Is it so slow in football news that we have to deal in vagaries and supposition?

If Matt couldn't throw a football he would be selling gym memberships or working at Club Med.

Time to Rank on ESPN

I TIVO each episode of "NFL Live" and watch it after dinner. But during the past month or two, I've found myself fast-forwarding thru the Mike Vick/Pacman footage and wind up with 10 minutes or so worth of real football stuff.

Turning Simmons' inferences about Matt against him (not because they're true but solely to make a point) - you might say that ESPN has become too show-bizzy (kind of like "the Matt Leinart of Sports Coverage")

You might say that happend 10 years ago. Really the only reason to watch ESPN in my opinion is if they are the only network broadcasting a game.

Heres the whole thing thats wrong with this.. Matt can throw a football and do it really well.. So this whole what if crap is pointless..

Its like the yankees fans arguement after we one the 2001 world series.. They said "well if you didnt have Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling, the yankees would have won".. Well we did have them two, so its pointless arguement..

Stupid thing to ask about Matt..

i don't understand this. abomb already posted something to the contrary on this thread and i was under the impression you had dual custody of a single brain . . . ?

LOL.

Yeah, no. We only have the same sense of humor. Plus abomb doesn't like Harry Potter.

He adores Bill Simmons and probably wants to have his babies. I chuckle at Simmons from time to time but hate his Celtic-loving guts.
