The Philadelphia 76ers are sitting at 23-44 amid a tough season filled with injuries and a lot of adversity. With 15 games remaining in the 2024-25 season, the Sixers are 5 games back of the Chicago Bulls for the final play-in tournament spot in the East as their hopes of getting in are dwindling.

With that being said, these final 15 games have meaning for a lot of these younger players. A lot of guys are playing for their future and they are going to come out and play as hard as they can over this final stretch to show what they can do to earn more opportunities in the league.

For somebody like Jeff Dowtin Jr., for example, he has shown off his ability to score the ball as he's averaging 18.8 points and 3.5 assists while shooting 58.2% from the floor and 46.7% from deep over his last four games.

"I think just opportunity," said Dowtin. "Guys are hurt right now. Guys are injured so it’s next man up mentality. Teammates just have been pushing me to keep being aggressive, keep playing with confidence, and making the right place, hitting open shots. So credit a lot to them. Coaching staff has been putting me in great positions to play the game the right way so also credit them and things have just been flowing."

Then there's the job of coach Nick Nurse. He is still evaluating everybody and he wants to make sure his guys are ready to play no matter what the record is or what the situation is out on the floor.

"Listen, we gotta prepare this group to go out there and have some success, right?" Nurse told reporters after a win in Dallas on Sunday. "They played very well tonight, this group of guys and and again, I just thought they kept making enough shots. Shot the ball well from 3, rebounded well enough. All those kind of—they just did everything well enough, and probably the 3-balls are the difference in the end. Again, we just want to prepare them well and give these guys a chance to show what they can do and have some success."

The 2024-25 season has been a lost one for the Sixers, but that doesn't mean they are going to just throw in the towel over the final stretch of the season. The hope is to continue building for the 2025-26 season.
