It has been over a month since the Philadelphia 76ers ruled star big man Joel Embiid out for the rest of the season back on Feb. 28. There were plenty of questions of when the next steps for the big fella would be announced, but now there is some clarity of what the next step is for the 2023 MVP winner.
Per ESPN's Shams Charania, Embiid will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. This will be the second surgery on his left knee over the past 14 months and he will be re-evaluated six weeks after having the surgery. He is expected to make a full recovery.
One has to wonder if Embiid will be ready to go for training camp before the 2025-26 season, but as time goes on, it's important that he fixes the problem in enough time to get back to the team as quickly as possible.
Embiid was limited to only 19 games in the 2024-25 season and averaged 23.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists while shooting 44.4% from the floor and 29.9% from deep. He was, obviously, not himself and the Sixers will now hope he can return back to his normal self for the next season.
