I'm remember reading that you felt we should do that. I asked you why and I never got a response. If you like Rivers so much why not at least trade down to #7?! I would think we should try to trade down a little lower than that for him. Rivers would still be considered too high there but at least you get more for it. I like your board a lot but you should have some nutty ideas! :)

I'm also all for Rivers. But if we draft him we should trade down and get addidional picks. Not too far though, I well remember last years fiasco.

If we trade with the Browns we can pick Rivers at 7th spot.

He'd be ok for the 3rd pick in the 3rd round. If we passed on a stud like Leftwich at 6 last year and took a HUGE gamble on Rivers at 3 it would be even beyond any definition of ignorant there is.Even Rod Graves and the Cards can't be that ********.There's absolutely no way this would ever happen.

I think he will be available even later. At 10 at least or streching our luck maybe even at 15.

Assuming we take the 7th from the Browns. What would be a good return value? Their second rounder + what?

I think strangly that he may be available even at #33, don't ask me why but he still could be???

If you use the value chart it's our #1 and #5 for their #1, #2 and #3. But since it's the Browns that want to move up and not us wanting to trade down, the Browns have to pay a bit extra. Their #1, 2 and 3 straight up if noplayers are involved.

I don't agree with choice, but to execute it you dare not go below the 11th pick. There would seem little question that all three QBs will be off the board by then. There is also the danger of going down only to have someone jump ahead of you to grab your target.

I'm here suncardsfan, I'm here.

It's simple. Phillip Rivers, IMO, is the best QB in the draft. If you want a player badly, you take him. Period. You can't mess around and hope he'll fall to you later on. We did that last year on the defensive line players we wanted and got burned.

Having said that, I don't think Denny Green is disembling when he suggests he doesn't need a QB. I'd be shocked if we took a QB in the first 3 rounds. My guess is we'll go ?, DT, CB or ?, CB, DT.

skkorp,

I agree with your comment about DT then CB or CB then DT in rounds 2 and 3. After considerable analysis, I'm thinking DT first in round 2 and then CB in round 3. The best two gap DT (after Wilfork) is IMHO, Marcus Tubbs followed by Washington and then Sopoaga. Sopoaga would be available in round 3 but not the others. I have concerns about Sopoaga's knees as well. IMO, there is a significant drop off in talent between Tubbs, Washington and Sopoaga. Next years DT class is weak. I think that it is a priority to fix our need for the two gap DT this year and at #33.

At CB, I feel that there is a definite drop from round one talent to round two talent.......but the drop off from round two talent to round three talent is marginal. Carroll; Thomas; Ratliff and Vasher will be available at #64. Both Carroll and Thomas are starters in our lineup and either one will become a solid #2 CB. If for whatever reason we have to limp through the year at CB, next year has a good class of CB's.

No way...Rivers, Manning and Big Ben all have equal shots at becoming solid starters, IMO, but the difference is their potential to become great or even HOF starters, which makes me Rank it as Big Ben, Eli and Rivers.

Let's revisit this in three years. :hammer:

I think this year is different though. I don't think we'll be reaching for anything and two of your favorite players Wilfolk or Rivers (if for some amazing reason he is picked early) will be there. If those two guys are picked there should be some amazing talent to choose from. Thanks for replying though!!! You don't want the main hancho to be ignoring you! Who knows, ignore me today, block me tomorrow?
