I have a netgear router WIND4100 that constantly needs to be unplugged and then plugged back in. It is connected to a wireless netgear router.

The router is approx 2 years old and the problem would crop up every 6 months, now it every few days to overnight.

I believe the modem is model 900

Wireless routers & cable modems are cheaply made and they run 24/7/365 so they usually start to fail sooner than you think they should. I've run into a lot of wireless routers that start needing to be rebooted weekly after the 2 year mark (some even sooner). I've had better luck with cable modems lasting longer, but that doesn't mean there aren't some lemons out there.

Did you call your ISP? I have cox and had to replace a router/modem and they fixed it within a couple of days. Think it was about $200. But they had a technician come out and set it up.

Calling the ISP is an adventure in robotic response. Yes I pulled the plug on both and waited the 1 minute with no change. "Wait let me see if i get a response from your computer." "I see, there is a problem, would you like to schedule a service call??"

Hmmm that's why I called you, I didn't need the 15 to 20 minute interlude.

I don't know if this works for Cox, but it works for DirecTV and a couple others. If you are in menu hell just say "agent" and it will bump you out of the VRU and connect you to a person.
