Ok he's due $2 million on dead money when we released him because he wanted it? He goes on to bigger things than a rebuild but....? This isn't fair.

I don't believe he is "due" anything. That was to account for money he's already been paid. The cards are not paying him two mil this year, they paid it last year.

SK and MB rolled the dice and got toasted.

Does that mean they've learned their lesson and will never structure contracts like that again?

Probably not. But what we can hope for is "once burned/twice forewarned" and they'll have a better insight as to who the good guys are and vice versa.

If we're talking about Riddick; his contract was slotted as the #13 pick and there was little to nothing to negotiate.

Haason Reddick signed a 4 year, $13,477,966 contract with the Arizona Cardinals, including a $7,942,157 signing bonus, $13,477,966 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $3,369,492. In 2020, Reddick will earn a base salary of $2,302,904, while carrying a cap hit of $4,288,444 and a dead cap value of $1,985,540.

I don't think any talent evaluator can predict exactly how a human being will perform on an NFL field. Every NFL team has players who outperform their contracts and those who underperform. Contracts seem to be the product of market forces but the whole thing is an inexact science. Of course, it's better to be right most of the time, but no GM is right all of the time. David Johnson's contract seemed like it was what he deserved at the time. But as they say in the stock market, past performance is no guarantee of future performance.

I’m a Sun Devil alum and wished we would have drafted Suggs years ago.
But after what he said last year and how he played for the Cardinals I have lost all respect for him.

I dont blame a over hill 36 year old HOF olb for taking plays off and cruising knowing he isn't going to the playoffs that year.

Arizona was most likely seen as a chance at a vacation and easy money.

I blame the people who offered a washed 36 yo olb a contract of any sort.
