I just watched it. This was my first movie from my new Blockbuster-online account, and it definitely didn’t disappoint. I can’t believe it took me 6 years to watch it. I absolutely loved it. I’ll have to watch it again sometime, but right now it’s definitely in my top 20 favorite movies. Brad Pitt playing a Pikey was awesome. The entire movie was great, but somehow it even kept getting better and better as it went along.

Usually it might seem a tad unfair to begin a review by referring to the director's missis. But then the missis in question wouldn't usually be Madonna--a woman whose ability to reinvent herself several times before breakfast seems in marked contrast to that of hubby Guy Ritchie. Certainly, this follow-up to the filmmaker's breakthrough film--the high-energy, expletive-strewn cockney-gangster movie Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels--hardly breaks new ground being, well, another high-energy, expletive-strewn cockney-gangster movie. OK, so there are some differences. This time around our low-rent hoodlums are battling over dodgy fights and stolen diamonds rather than dodgy card games and stolen drugs. There has been some minor reshuffling of the cast too, with Sting and Dexter Fletcher making way for the more bankable Benicio Del Toro and Brad Pitt, the latter pretty much stealing the whole shebang as an incomprehensible Irish gypsy. And, sure, people who really, really liked Lock, Stock--or have the memory of a goldfish--will really, really like this. The suspicion lingers, however, that if the director doesn't do something very different next time around then his career may prove to be considerably shorter than that of his missis. --Clark Collis

I thought it was funny that the DVD had an option for subtitles and then an additional option for subtitles only when the Pikeys spoke. I had to turn them all on, those were some strong British accents.

Didn't even realize that, pretty funny.

Brad Pitt's character and indecipherable speech was inspired by many critics' complaints about the accents of the characters in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998). Guy Ritchie decided to counter the criticisms by creating a character that not only couldn't be understood by the audience but the also couldn't be understood by characters in the movie.
I recently re-watched this one. What a great movie. Turkish's reactions when Mickey was speaking were classic.

Turkish: Well, do you want to do it?
Mickey: That depends.
Turkish: On what?
Mickey: On you buying this caravan. Not the rouge one, the rose.
Turkish: It's not the same caravan.
Mickey: It's not the same fight.
Turkish: It's twice the ****ing size of the last one.
Mickey: Turkish, the fight is twice the size. And me ma still needs a caravan. I like to look after me ma. It's a fair deal. Take it.
Turkish: Mickey, you're lucky we aren't worm food after your last performance. Buying a tart's mobile palace is a little ****ing rich.
[Realizes his mistake]
Turkish: I wasn't calling your mum a tart. I just meant...
Mickey: Ah, save your breath for cooling your porridge. Now, look...
Mickey: [starts talking incoherently] I want the hector two roof lights, with the discover cushions and the matching side stripe caravan.
Mickey: Right. And she's terrible partial to the periwinkle blue, boys. Have I made myself clear, lads?
Turkish: Yeah, that's perfectly clear, Mickey. Just give me one minute to confer with my colleague.
[to Tommy]
Turkish: Did you understand a single word of what he just said?

Bullet Tooth Tony: Boris the Blade? As in Boris the Bullet-Dodger?
Avi: Why do they call him the Bullet-Dodger?
Bullet Tooth Tony: 'Cause he dodges bullets, Avi.

This is on netflix instant view. I watched a bit of it the other day. Regarding all the talk recently about guys movies...this has got to be a top competitor. Cool dialog, slick action, a bit of violent crime, no chick drama, not to mention incredible dialog like the pig story.

Yep.

First thing I think of when I see the name of this movie. Followed by

Turkish: No, Tommy. There's a gun in your trousers. What's a gun doing in your trousers?
Tommy: It's for protection.
Turkish: Protection from what? "Zee Germans"?

I have 2 copies of this movie on dvd. One to lend out and one as backup in case it never gets returned. I've watched this in the company of women and not once did they even chuckle. It is definitely a guy's movie.

Yeah, Pitt's performance in this film is insane.

We need a kumite for best performances in a supporting role. Pitt in this and Tom Cruise in Magnolia would be top qualifiers.

yeah, those are two GREAT performances.

I'd put off watching this movie for awhile now because I was worried about picking up the dialogue. But it was recommended recently in another thread (by Chaplin and others) so I decided to give it a chance. I absolutely loved it, as did my wife. Although I liked Lock, Stock etc, quite a bit, this one was so much more fun. And I loved every moment with the "Pikeys", Brad Pitt especially. Definitely going to watch this again in a few days.
