With respects to Hedake Smith, Fat Lever and Mario Bennett.... is James Harden the best hoops player ever to come out of ASU?

I have racked my brain and can't think of a better player

Byron Scott is the best pro player ever to come from ASU.

Lionel Hollins and Alton Lister had decent NBA careers, but were likely before your time.

Eddie House is currently doing well and who knows how Ike Diogu will do (already on his 3rd team).

Scott was very good. I think Harden will end up the best hoops player from ASU ever. However, he wont have the best ASU career.

I should have clarified. The best college basketball player to play for ASU, regardless of what he did/does in the pros. Think Danny Wuerffel's career at Florida, blocking out his NFL career.

I'd have to go for Fat Lever by a nose. Harden could pass him by the end of this season though for #1 on my list.

Id say Harden is behind Byron Scott and Ike Diogu rather easily based on their collegiate careers. Harden could win Pac-10 POY which would put him right up there with Diogu though.

Joe Caldwell was a great Sun Devil and had a very good pro career. He played in the NBA against guys like Jerry West.

Jumpin' Joe is still probably the best Sun Devil hoopster. Just not well known.

Lionel Hollins was clutch for the Trailblazers when they were in their championship years.
He and Fat were great team players. You could pluck them from their ASU days and plug them into Herb's team along with Joe Caldwell and you might cut down all the nets.
If you allowed UCLA to do the same thing.....not so much.

Joe Caldwell was before my time but I remember all the others. I'm with aj, Fat Lever gets my vote as best player but the best team was the one with Byron Scott that got ranked as high as #2 nationally, if my shaky memory is correct.
