Last year I managed to justify paying for 2 season tickets. This year I was really debating whether or not I could squeeze it into my budget. But the Cardinals have with their FA inaction, made the decision very easy for me.
I did not put the requried down payment in by the dead line for the upcoming season. To date, the Cardinals have not shown me that they're going to follow through with their word about being "competitive" in the FA market to justify the expense.
We were told several times that we just couldn't be competitive without a new stadium.
We were told VERY recently that we were going to be competitive in THIS offseason.
The biggest impact players out there weren't even brought in for an interview, and instead of being "competitive" we're being "patient."
I know everyone has an "inside" source but Green had a deal all worked out for Ty Law and the Cardinals balked at it. I don't know the details, but it obviously came in under the salary cap and instead we went half the season with $10 million UNDER the cap.
Don't get me wrong, I'll still be watching all of their games Sundays (or as I did in the past, listening to them on the radio...when I was in college we had no radio broadcast in Tucson, so I'd drive North on the 10 until I got reception and just sit in the car and listen).
I'll still be rooting every week for a win.
But I won't be spending my hard earned money so Bidwill can line his pockets instead of aggresively improving his team as promised.
And I reeeally really really hope I regret my decision to not renew.
