So long season tickets

Last year I managed to justify paying for 2 season tickets. This year I was really debating whether or not I could squeeze it into my budget. But the Cardinals have with their FA inaction, made the decision very easy for me.

I did not put the requried down payment in by the dead line for the upcoming season. To date, the Cardinals have not shown me that they're going to follow through with their word about being "competitive" in the FA market to justify the expense.

We were told several times that we just couldn't be competitive without a new stadium.

We were told VERY recently that we were going to be competitive in THIS offseason.

The biggest impact players out there weren't even brought in for an interview, and instead of being "competitive" we're being "patient."

I know everyone has an "inside" source but Green had a deal all worked out for Ty Law and the Cardinals balked at it. I don't know the details, but it obviously came in under the salary cap and instead we went half the season with $10 million UNDER the cap.

Don't get me wrong, I'll still be watching all of their games Sundays (or as I did in the past, listening to them on the radio...when I was in college we had no radio broadcast in Tucson, so I'd drive North on the 10 until I got reception and just sit in the car and listen).

I'll still be rooting every week for a win.

But I won't be spending my hard earned money so Bidwill can line his pockets instead of aggresively improving his team as promised.

And I reeeally really really hope I regret my decision to not renew.

Did you have seats in the endzone by the railings? I'm wanting to move up, and I hope this attitude carries down to the rails.

I hope that some of the cheap seat people relinquish their tickets as well.. It'll give me a chance to get in for the three of us for '07.

However, to agree with you to an extent, I too got the "We're going to win because of the stadium" speil last year. I always thought it was funny, everytime I'd call to check on the ticket availability, I'd hear nothing about the on-field product, and they'd pitch the stadium to me time and time again. Sure, having a state-of-the-art new home is fantastic, but the new building's not going to instantly change the field success, or lack therefore of.

ActingWild - You could always have a fan from the board pay for your seats and use them this season.

You'd retain your account and other Cards fans would be in your seats.

That's likely still possible. The deadline is a soft deadline. If you called in with your deposit on Tuesday - they're going to take it. :D

Yeah, you know, it's frustrating to remember that as a Cards fan. The whole 'we can't be competitive in spending money until we have a stadium'. Now that we do have the money, we mysteriously have a different plan than to spend the money to be competitive. Strange how I somehow knew nothing would change. Hmmm.

It's sad to see you go, but, don't worry your seat will ahve butts in them I will never give them up and one day in the not to distant future we will see the wins go along with the fun of seeing NFL action live! If every fan i9n all the citiies were to give up their seats because of this FA period 25 teams would have empty seats.

FA is not over yet and still you throw in the towel. The draft is coming up next month and we don't know how that will go. Matt Lienart is going to be very fun to watch along with Q, Fitz and the EDGE. I know you'll see all the games on TV so enjoy. But, since we are sold out, you could have sold them all and held onto the rights. Oh well.

Why the panic? There have been ONE impact free agent signing by the ENTIRE league so far...

spot on!

bloody hell i would kill to get to the games and find it hard that 4 days with only one signing tipped the balance for you - if your skint then fair enough, but if your a fan and you can just about stretch to a ticket - get your arse on your seat!

I'd hate to say it, but I almost liked that the Cardinals were bad for a few years because now I have great 45 yard seats only about 10 rows up. Now they need to kick butt because I doubt any of the better seats will be leaving anytime soon.

Well, maybe I acted a little too emotionally. After sleeping on it, I called the Cardinals and gave them my money. I still hate the way they've started out free agency, but I'm not going to stop following them or rooting for them, so I'd much rather watch them than listen on the radio....ergh. Anyway, I doubt I'll go to every game, so those that have asked me for my tickets, I'll be happy to send them your way if I'm not using them.

Now spend some money Graves!
