like it or not the franchise and future belongs to ride or die leinert, the wins and experience belong to pop warner,

in a way its a nice dilemma to have, warner is about the gutsiest son of a bitch to ever strtap on a jock , leinert has the pedigree and tools and i believe what pundents like to call the intangible's stuff you can';t teach you either have it or you don''t,

my observation for what its worth is that the team believes in warner and that he gives us the best opportunity to win now , leinert is viewed as a golden boy who hasn't earned it yet,

so whats it gonna bee? assuming they both have a great preseason who do you choose on opening day?

Leinart is the face of the franchise and its future. Must start in 2008; should not even be an issue. However its nice to have Kurt under contract for next year.

Earning the bonus that was thought to be out of reach proves to me that Warner still has it. Pedigree means nothing if it doesn't translate into the NFL and considering his durability is suspect, i would give it to Warner.

If Leinart plays well, he should start. But if Warner is head & shoulders out playing Leinart in camp/preseason then we should ride Warner till Leinart improves.

Leinart played very bad his second year. Lets hope for a big improvment.

Gotta start Matt. It's nice to know, however, if he stumbles, Kurt can carry the load.

Inform both that it will be an open and fair competition now. Then take the one who gives the best chance to win. No excuses.

I'd like to see Leinart live up to his billing. But I'd rather see an open competition for the job. Warner has played well for us this year (sans turnovers) and it would be only fair that the better of the 2 gets the job next year.

Easy. Whoever gives us the best chance to win. I don't buy the "Leinart is our future, so we have to start him next year" argument or the "starters don't lose their job to injuries" mantra. Plain and simple, best players play. Warner has shown that he deserves a legitimate shot to start next year, and if he's the best man for the job, then give it to him. I'm rooting for Leinart like everybody else, but I'm not ready to hand him the job just because he's supposed to be our QBOF or because Warner is 38 years old. At some point Leinart is going to have to show us that he's the man, but not as long as their is a better quarterback on the team, if there is one.

May the best quarterback win.

I want to see what Leinart can do because he is our franchise qb of the future. But Warner did have a pretty darn good year but its just time to see what Leinart can do when healthy.

Matt as the starter, Kurt comes in for the no-huddle offense 2-3 times per game. I don't care if Matt likes it or not, that combo is tough to defend.

Like it or not we start with Leinart. We can always fall back on Warner.

We must find out just what Leinart brings to the table in what will be his 3rd season. He must hit the weight room and get stronger. He had a lot of time to learn about the x's and o's during his IR stint.

Leinarts not an idiot. He knows he's got to hit the ground running from the very first mini camp. MAny qb's have benefitted by sitting early in there careers. Palmer, Favre, and many others like Derek Anderson learned a lot while being on the bench.

One final note, Our qb situation is way better than a few years back when we had the likes of McCown, Smith, and Blake. I can't even remember the kids name from Michigan. Sheesh. I'm sure glad those days are over.

Open competition and the best man starts ...

More than likely Warner would win giving Matt another year to learn ...

I liked this as well. Would like them to go back to this. Was working. Don't know if Warner could last another full season.

I voted for Kurt Warner. Because I want Matt leinart to be the best Qb the Cards has ever had. (sorry Neil ) But more than that I would love for the Cards to go deep in to the playoffs. The way I see that happening is with Warner starting, than if he struggles or God forbid gets hurt, then bring in Matt. If Matt starts and does not play well and the Cards have to pull him for Warner to run the hurry up offence or what ever, then We have a veteran Qb who has lost his spark and our young QB pouting on the sidelines. I think Matt's time with the Cardinals will be short, And may cost us the playoffs. I think we have a sure thing in Warner, meaning playoffs... The best way is to Bring Matt off the bench ,when the time is right, and have him never look back. And with our back up QB (Warner) wanting one more chance to show that he can still make the plays..... I have been a Cards fan all my life. My heart can't take one more year of the Cardinals not making the playoffs.
Make me wonder how Q and Fitzs sees it.

Second that. He'll go #1 in the draft this year. Nobody else is even close.

He is exactly who the Ravens need to trade up to get to draft, but Newsome won't do it, while Parcells would do the trade in a heartbeat. Graves won't do it, because he is convinced Leinart is the answer. Matt Ryan has success stamped all over himself. He is the next " can't miss " pick.
